In this article, we aimed to evaluate the ancient essay on Chinese Rhetorics titled as Wen Xin Tiao Long(文心雕龍=WXTL), which was written by a renowned writer and scholar in the 5th century, Liu-Xie(465~552). Until now, there are many studies on this classical masterpiece, but they mainly focused on the literary property of that text. Consequently, we would like to set our more specific goal to observe this monumental work from textlinguistic and semiotic perspectives. In the relevant chapters, we deal with following issues: Chapter 1: General purpose of this paper; Chapter 2: Chronogical vs. Meta-Historiographic Observation; Chapter 3: Preliminary research on WSTL; Chapter 4: Genre- Typology in WXTL; Chapter 5: Conclusion: Prospective value of WXTL for textlinguistic discourse. In conclusion, we summarize all the relevant observations, and submit a proposal for further tasks. With the results of this paper, we regard WXTL as one of the greatest contributions which has fundamentally forecasted the realm of modern Textlinguistics and achieved its inspiration for Typology of Practical Textsorten at all. That is the very reason, why we here declare this masterpiece as a splendid Precursor of Modern Textlinguistics.
