국가보훈처는 그간 각계에서 꾸준히 제기되어온 김원웅의 부친 김차돌의 독립유공자 공적이 가짜라는 주장에 대해 2020년 10월 14일과 2021년 7월 21일 두 번에 걸쳐 김차돌(김근수)･김석(대통령 표창자로 1963년 이전 사망한 김근수)･왕석이 동일인물이라고 하여 전 3선 국회의원이자 전 광복회 회장 김원웅의 부친 김차돌에 대한 면죄부를 주었다. 하지만 이와 같은 국가보훈처의 유권해석은 김차돌(왕석)과 김근수(김석)가 동일 인물이 아니라는 점이 증명된다면 국가보훈처의 주장은 성립될 수 없는 ‘위론’에 불과하다. 이는 다음과 같은 점에서 확인된다. 1) 일제의 사료에 내자(內字) 범주에 포함된 왕석은 1942년 7월부터 1944년 2월까지 후기 광복군 제1지대에서 활동한 인물이다. 일제 사료 ‘내(內)’자는 밀정을 의미할 가능성이 높다는 점에서 대단히 심각한 문제이다. 2) 왕석은 1942년 12월 무렵 조선의용대에서 후기 광복군 제1지대로 넘어온 인물이다. 반면, 김석(김근수)는 한국독립당 출신으로 한국광복군 총사령부 총무처 요원, 전기광복군 제1지대에서 활동한 인물이다. 3) 「서안시거류한교조사표」(1942. 4. 23)에 따르면 김석은 1942년 4월 23일 현재 중국 서안 전기 광복군 제1지대에서 활동하고 있었다. 반면, 1968년 「공적조서」에 따르면 김차돌은 1942년 5월부터 광복군 (후기) 제1지대 제2구대장으로 활동하였으며, 1977년 「공적조서」에 따르면 1941년 3월 전기 광복군 제1지대 제1구에 입대하여 복무하였다. 4) 1966년 자작 「공적서」와 1968년 「공적조서」 상의 “광복군 제1지대 제2구대장 임명”이라는 내용은 1977년의 공적조서에서는 인정되지 않았다. 1977년 이전 김차돌은 허위사실을 주장한 셈이다. 5) 김차돌이 주장한 조선의용대 활동 지역도 낙양(1968년 「공적조서」)과 심양(1977년 「공적조서」)으로 각각 다르게 기술되어 있다. 이상과 같은 점에서 김근수(김석)와 김차돌(왕석)은 전혀 다른 인물임이 명백하다. 더욱이 일관되지 않은 김차돌과 「공적조서」 등의 주장을 바탕으로 한 국가보훈처의 결정은 철회되는 것이 마땅하다.
On July 21, 2021, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of Korea concluded that Kim Geun-soo, Kim Won-woong's father was an independent man from the point that Kim Geun-soo was the same person as Kim Seok and Wang Seok. But this is not the thruth with the following. 1) Kim Seok (Kim Geun-soo) and Wang Seok have different careers. Kim Seok was active in the Korean Independence Party and the General Headquarters of the Korean Liberation Army, and Wang Seok was an undercover agent under Japanese imperialism and was active in the first zone of the Liberation Army in the late period. 2) Before 1949, the real name of Kim Geun-soo, the father of Kim Won-woong was Kim Cha-dol Therefore, there is no fact that Kim Cha-dol did an independence movement as Kim Geun-soo. 3) The claims of Kim Cha-dol and Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of Korea regarding Kim Cha-dol‘s independence movement are consistent with contradictory descriptions such as the time, place, and position of their activities. Therefore, the judgment of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs is different from the facts, and the investigation into Kim Cha-dol must be completely redone.
