2022년 한반도와 동북아의 안보상황은 북한의 군사위협과 미·중 패권경쟁, 러시아의 우크라이나 침공 등으로 불확실성과 불안정성이 심화하고 있다. 특히 김정은집권 10년을 넘긴 시점에서 북한은 기존의 핵무기를 보다 고도화하고 게임체인저로주목받고 있는 극초음속 미사일(Hypersonic Missile)을 개발하는 등 한반도 안보위협을 가중시키고 있다. 역사적 맥락에서 현재의 국제질서와 안보상황은 제2차 세계대전의 정치적 유산(遺産)이라고 할 수 있으며, 현재의 안보이슈를 효과적으로 해결해나가기 위해서는 전쟁의 역사적 함의를 재평가하는 노력이 필요하다. 현재의 시점에서 전쟁의 역사를 고찰하는 것은 당대의 역사적 상황을 추체험(Re-enactment)함으로써 오늘날 우리가 직면하고 있는 안보상황을 올바로 이해하고 대응해나가기 위해 반드시 필요하다고 판단된다. 한편 제2차 세계대전은 ‘시스템의 시대’를 대표하는 ‘제3세대 전쟁’으로, 첨단 무기체계 연구개발 및 군수품의 대량생산을 통해 국가 총력전 개념으로 치러진 기동전(機動戰)이었다. 본 연구에서는 제2차 세계대전 당시 연합국의 승전요인을 영국과 미국의 무기체계 연구개발, 전시생산체제를 중심으로 고찰하였다. 제2차 세계대전 시 미․영 연합군의 승리요인은 향후 한국군이 어떤 방식으로 현 군사위협에효과적으로 대응하고 군사대비태세를 확립해나가야 하는지에 대한 방향을 제시해준다는 점에서 군사적 함의를 갖는다.
In 2022, the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia is intensifying uncertainty and instability due to North Korea's military threats, the U.S.-China hegemony competition, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In particular, North Korea, which marks its 10th year as Kim Jong-un, is aggravating the security threats on the Korean Peninsula by further upgrading existing nuclear weapons and developing hypersonic missiles that are drawing attention as game changers. It is judged that examining the history of war at this point is essential to properly understand and respond to the security situation we face today through re-enactment of the historical situation of the time. World War II was a "third generation war" representing the "era of systems," and was a Maneuver Warfare held in the concept of a total war through research and development of advanced weapons systems and mass production of military supplies. This study would scrutinize the factors of the victory of the Allies during World War II, focusing on the research and development of weapons systems in the United Kingdom and the United States, and the production system during the war. The victory factor of the U.S.-British coalition in World War II has military implications in that it provides directions on how the Korean military should effectively respond to the current military threats and establish military readiness in the future.
