생태계 위기에 대한 인식이 확산되며, 인간과 자연의 공존에 관한 담론 이 활발하게 전개되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 담론에 비추어, 『찬미받으 소서 Laudato Si』에 나타난 ‘통합적 생태론’의 의의를 살펴보았다. 가톨릭 교회의 첫 환경회칙으로 꼽히는 『찬미받으소서』는 피조된 세계 내 존재자 들의 상호연관성에 주목하며 관계성의 근원과 관계성 상실 원인 및 회복 방안을 제시한다. 이 문헌에 나타나는 관계성과 인간의 지위 및 역할에 대한 이해는 생태중심주의와 지나친 인간중심주의로부터 거리를 유지한 다. 또한 교회가 제시하는 통합적 생태론은 심층생태론과 사회생태학의 비판적 성찰을 수용할 뿐 아니라 통합적인 시각으로 그 해결을 위한 실천 방안을 제시한다. 한편 가톨릭교회의 환경문제 인식은 가톨릭 사회 교리 의 기본적 원리— 곧 공동선의 원리와 연대성의 원리 그리고 가난한 자를 위한 우선적 선택의 원리—를 자연과 미래 세대에 적용시키는 특징을 보여 준다. 이에 기반하여 생태적 회심은 손상된 관계성을 회복하기 위한 방안 으로 제시된다. 이 개념을 통해 교회는 감성적, 지성적, 사회정치적, 종교 적 영역에서 내리는 결정 기준의 지평이 변화되어야 한다고 요구한다. 이 러한 내용은 상호의존성과 존중을 강조하는 동양철학과 종교의 주요 개념 을 기반으로 생태문제를 해결하기 위한 이론과 실천을 모색하는 작업의 디딤돌이 될 수 있을 것이다.
Awareness of the ecological crisis is spreading, and discourse on the coexistence of humans and nature has been actively developed. In light of these discourses, this study summarizes the ways to restore their explores the significance of ‘integral ecology’ in Laudato Si, for the coexistence of humans and nature proposed by the Roman Catholic Church. Laudato Si, considered the first environmental encyclical of the Catholic Church, pays attention to the interconnectedness of beings in the created world, and presents the sources of relationship, the causes of loss of relationships, and a recovery plan. The understanding of relationships, human status, and roles in this encyclical maintains a distance from eco-centrism and excessive anthropocentrism. In addition, the integrated ecology proposed by the church accepts critical reflection on deep ecology and social ecology and also presents a practical plan for solving it from an integrated perspective. On the other hand, the Catholic Church's awareness of environmental issues shows the characteristics of applying the basic principles of Catholic social doctrine - the principle of the common good, the principle of solidarity, and the principle of preferential choice for the poor - to nature and future generations. Based on this, ecological conversion is presented as a way to restore damaged relationships. Through this concept, the church demands that the horizon of decision criteria in the emotional, intellectual, sociopolitical, and religious domains be changed. These contents can be a stepping stone for the work of seeking theories and practices to solve ecological problems based on the main concepts of Eastern philosophy and religion that emphasize interdependence and respect.
