이 연구는 한국농촌형 글로벌 빌리지 구축을 위한 세계시민교육의 실제와 성과를 타진하는 데 목적이 있다. 특히 농촌거주 노년층 대상으로 글로벌 빌리지 구축가능성을 타진하고자 하였다. 연구대상은 경북 금천 섶마리마을 노년층 20명이었고, 영남대 재학 중인 유학생 10명과 청도가족센터에서 파견된 베트남 결혼이주여성5명이었다. 세계시민교육은 2022년 7월 동안 총 4회에 걸쳐 섶마리 마을회관에서 진행되었다. 세계시민교육을실시한 뒤 다음의 결과를 얻었다. 첫째, 노년층은 유학생의 피부색에서 충격과 놀라움을 표시하였는데, 수업을통해 피부차이에서 오는 거부감을 극복할 수 있었다. 둘째, 유학생들과 교류를 통해 마을노년층은 평소 중국을비롯한 각 국가에 대해 가졌던 부정적 선입견과 편견을 극복할 수 있었다. 셋째, 선주민은 한국에서 결혼생활중인 이주여성의 처지를 이해하였고, 덧붙여 그들에 대한 선주민의 책임윤리 발휘가 중요함을 인식할 수 있었다. 넷째, 선주민은 농업의 근간인 땅의 건강성이 갖는 중요성을 이해하였고, 이에 의한 생태시민적 삶이 글로벌 시민의식과 밀접히 연계됨을 파악할 수 있었다. 요컨대, 이 연구는 선주민/이주민의 공존가능성을 위한 글로벌 빌리지 구축에서 세계시민교육의 역할을 타진하는 데 두었다.
The purpose of this study was to examine the practice and performance of global citizenship education for the construction of a Korean rural-style global village. In particular, we tried to build a global village targeting the elderly living in rural areas. Subjects of this study were 20 elderly people from Shepmari Village, Geumcheon, Gyeongbuk-do, ten foreign students from Yeungnam University, and five married Vietnamese immigrants (females) dispatched from the Cheongdo Multicultural Family Center. Global citizenship education was held four times in July 2022. After conducting global citizenship education, the following results were obtained. First, the elderly expressed shock and surprise in the skin color of foreign students. They were able to overcome the rejection caused by the skin difference through classes. Second, through exchanges with foreign students, village elders were able to overcome negative preconceived notions and prejudice they had about each country, including China. Third, indigenous people understood the position of immigrant women living in marriage in Korea. They could recognize the importance of exercising the responsibility ethics of indigenous people towards them. Fourth, indigenous people were able to understand how to restore the health of the land, which is the basis of agriculture. In addition, they were able to understand that the eco-civic life is closely related to global citizenship. In summary, this study aims to reveal the role of global citizenship education in constructing a global village where indigenous/immigrant coexistence is possible.
