연구 목적: 실천공동체는 상황학습 이론을 바탕으로 참여자의 전문성 향상 및 네트워크 형성을 통한 문제해결을 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구는 시각장애교육과 관련된 전문적 지식과 경험적 성과를 공유하고 접근할 수 있도록 하는 미국의 온라인 실천공동체 사례를 분석하고, 이를 토대로 국내 시각장애교육 환경에 적합한 온라인 실천공동체 웹사이트를 개발, 구축하였다. 연구 방법: 연구자는 미국 시각장애교육분야에서 실행한 온라인 실천공동체 내용요소와 의사소통 기능을 분석하였고, 이를 토대로 내용 타당도 평가를 수행한 다음 온라인 실천공동체 웹사이트 ‘캐치비에듀’를 개발, 구축하였다. 연구 결과: 이를 통해 미국의 3개 온라인 시각장애교육 실천공동체의 목적 및 주요 내용요소, 의사소통 기능을 분석하였다. 또한 웹사이트 제작 플랫폼 ‘워드프레스’를 기반으로 시각장애학생의 발견부터 학령기 교과교육까지 생애주기에 따른 교육내용을 탑재할 수 있도록 메뉴를 구성하였다. 또한 각종 온라인 의사소통 기능을 이용하여 자율적인 커뮤니티 참여 및 확장을 유도할 수 있도록 구축하였다. 결론: 이 연구에서 개발한 온라인 실천공동체를 시작으로 시각장애교육 환경에 변화에 대응할 수 있는 시각장애특수교사의 전문성 향상, 관련 전문가와의 협업, 전문가와의 접근성 향상을 기대할 수 있다. 연구자는 본 개발연구의 결과에 따라 실천공동체의 정체성 형성 및 상호작용을 증진할 수 있는 구체적인 후속 과제를 제시하였다.
Purpose: A teacher practice community can promote professional development in teaching and build networks to solve problems in educational environment. This study analyzed the online practice communities to share professional knowledge and research-based findings in teaching students with visual impairments and then developed an online community of practice based on the analysis and educational practice in Korea. Method: The researcher found several communities in the United States and analyzed their goals, individual practice, and communication strategies. A conceptual content analysis was conducted with researchers and teachers working with students with visual impairments, then confirmed the initial menu items. Results: The researcher built a website that provides several items, including assessments and early intervention, teaching core subjects, and the nine areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum. Also, the website featured multiple tools to encourage communication between members, such as email listserv, social media, and monthly newsletters. Conclusion: The website is expected to help special education teachers pursue professional development in supporting the education of students with visual impairments in school settings. The researcher suggested implications and topics for future study.
