<An inscription praising the loyal King WuAn> written by King Sukjong of the Joseon Dynasty, is built in Dongmyo(東廟) of GuanYu(關羽), Seoul. This paper revealed the following: The title of the inscription, the writer of it, the construction time and size of it, the direction and size of it, the rubbings of it, the King Sukjong's visiting to it, Poems and objectives written by King Sukjong after looking at a painting about GuanYu, and the source of King Sukjong's consciousness. King Sukjong was the most passionate fan of GuanYu among the kings of Joseon. King Sukjong's <An inscription praising the loyal King WuAn> has data value in that it is an inscription that provided the foundation for the basic consciousness of GuanYu to the later Joseon kings of King Sukjong. In addition, this paper has several research implications as follows: First, this paper is the first research paper on King Sukjong's <An inscription praising the loyal King WuAn>, and various basic information related to it is presented to enhance understanding of this inscription. Second, this paper revealed for the first time that the source of King Sukjong's consciousness of GuanYu was not History of the Three Kingdoms(三國志) or MaoZongGang(毛宗崗)'s Romance of the Three Kingdoms(三國演義), but LuoGuanzhong(羅貫中)'s Romance of the Three Kingdoms(三國演義).
