이 연구의 목적은 정신의료기관 내 병원학교에서 처음 근무하게 된 어느 특수교사의 교육 경험을 살펴보고 그 의미를 살펴보는 데 있다. 병원학교 특수교사이자 연구자인 개인이 자기성찰을 통해 병원학교에서의 교육 경험에 대한 의미를 밝히고자 질적 연구방법 중 하나인 자문화기술지 방법을 사용하였다. 연구자는 병원학교 근무를 시작한 2021년 2월부터 2021년 12월까지 총 11개월간의 기간 동안 병원학교 운영을 통해 느끼는 교사로서의 가치관과 정체성 등을 일화와 함께 기록한 자기성찰 자료를 비롯하여 동료 교사들과 병원 구성원(치료진, 병원학교 학생)의 인터뷰, 그 밖에 문화적 인공물 등을 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 실용적 절충주의에 기초한 포괄적 분석절차를 사용하여 2개의 상위범주, 4개의 하위범주, 13개의 의미 단위로 연구 결과를 도출하였다. 이 연구를 통하여 연구자는 생소한 환경에서 수업과 병원학교 운영 전반을 홀로 이끌어 나가야 한다는 문화적 정체성을 확인하게 되었고, 질병에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 교육 환경을 재구성해야 함을 알게 되었다. 또한, 건강장애에 속하지 않는 정신질환 학생들을 지원하는 데 존재하는 다양한 어려움을 겪었으며, 정신의료기관 내 병원학교 운영을 내실화하기 위해서는 종합적인 대책이 필요함을 알 수 있었다.
The purpose of this study is to examine the education experiences of a teacher at the hospital school in the psychiatric hospital and to find out what they mean. The autoethnography one of the qualitative research methods was used to reveal the meaning of the educational experience in hospital school through self-reflection by individual researcher as a special education teacher at the hospital school. The autoethnography was used as a research method. For a total of 11 months from February 2021 to December 2021, the researcher collected self-reflection data, interviews with fellow teachers and hospital members (treatment staff, hospital school students), and other cultural artifacts. The collected data were analyzed by using a comprehensive analysis procedure based on the pragmatic eclecticism and then, the research results were derived in two upper categories, four lower categories, and 13 semantic units. As a result of the study, the researcher was able to confirm the cultural identity of leading the entire operation of classes and hospital school alone in an unfamiliar environment, and found out that the educational environment should be reconstructed based on an understanding of disease. In addition, it was found that there were various difficulties in supporting mentally ill students who did not belong to health disorders, and comprehensive measures were needed to improve the operation of hospital schools in mental health institutions.
