이 글은 <太極圖說>과 <天人合一圖>를 주요 텍스트로 하여 그 안에 들어있는 이론체계를 밝히고 그것들이 던져주는 교육적 메시지를 찾아내는 것이다. 無極이면서 太極이라는 명제가 있다. 이때 무극은 음양으로 운동방식이 나타나지 않는 모습이다. 반면 太極은 음양이 운동의 형태로 드러난 모습이다. 그런데 태극은 단순한 태극이 아니라 그 속에 이미 내재율로 五行이 작동하고 있다. 이것이 주돈이의 <태극도설>이다. 이러한 법칙 속에서 天道와 人道가 구동하고 있다고 보는 것이 天人合一의 이론체계이다. 이를 그림으로 나타낸 것이 권근의 <천인합일도>이다. 이러한 이론체계는 元․亨․利․貞이라는 天道의 운동사이클과 仁․禮․義․智라는 人道의 운동사이클이 合德을 도모한다. 그중 우리 본성은 仁․禮라는 확장운동과 義․智라는 수축운동의 리듬을 갖고 있다. 이것이 이른바 음양의 리듬이고 또한 이 리듬은 오행의 흐름을 타고 순환을 거듭한다. 그리고 천인합일의 패러다임은 단순한 天道의 운행을 넘어 人道도 천도와 함께 돌아가야 한다는 본성담론으로까지 나아간다. 하지만 현대교육은 동양의 전통에서 말해왔던 본성담론을 완전히 망각한 채 지식교육을 기본으로 하고 거기에다 현대사회에서 필요한 가치들을 가르치면 된다는 가정을 하고 있다. 그렇다면 현대교육은 동양에서 그렸던 본성담론을 그 뿌리부터 뽑아버려 어디에도 天道에 맞는 人道의 본성을 구현해 내는 장치가 없다고 평가할 수 있다. 이런 평가를 계기로 하여 음양오행이론에 기반한 태극오행의 본성리듬운동을 교육적으로 되살려 이를 실천하는 장치의 개발과 보급이 반드시 필요하겠다.
This article aims to illuminate the theoretical system contained in TàiJíTúShuì and TiānRénHéYīZhīTú as the main texts and to find the educational message they throw. There is a proposition called TàiJí while being WúJí. In this case, WúJí is a form of Yīn and Yáng, in which the movement method does not appear. On the other hand, TàiJí shows Yīn and Yáng in the form of movement. However, TàiJí is not just TàiJí, the five agents are already working in its intrinsic rhythm in TàiJí. This is Zhou Don-i’s TàiJíTúShuì. It is the theoretical system of TiānRénHéYī that the Heavenly Way and Humane Way are operating in these system. This is illustrated in TiānRénHéYīZhīTú by Kwon Geun. In such a theoretical system, the movement cycle of the Heavenly Path of Yuán・Hēng・Lì・Zhēn and the movement cycle of the Humane Path of Rén・Lĭ・Yì・Zhì promote harmony. Among them, our nature has the rhythm of expansion movement called Rén・Lĭ and contraction movement called Yì・Zhì. This is the so-called Yīn-Yáng rhythm, and this rhythm repeats the cycle through the flow of the five agents. And the paradigm of TiānRénHéYī goes beyond the simple operation of Heavenly Way and goes to the discourse of nature that humankind must also return with the Heavenly Way. However, modern education is based on knowledge education, completely forgetting the discourse of nature that has been said in the Eastern tradition, and it is assumed that it is enough to teach the values necessary in modern society. Then, it can be evaluated that modern education has pulled out the discourse of nature drawn in the East from its roots, and there is no device anywhere that embodies the nature of human beings that fit Heavenly Way. Taking this evaluation as an opportunity, it is essential to develop and disseminate a device of nature-keeping to revive the intrinsic rhythm movement of the TàiJí or the Five Agents based on the theory of Yīn-Yáng or Five Agents in an educational way.
