본 연구는 최근 교육행정학계에서 질적 연구방법이 주목받고 있는데 착안하여 새로운 연구방법으로 교육행정학 분야에서 활동이론의 적용 가능성에 대해 탐색해보고자 하였다. 활동이론은 학습과 함께 조직 내 활동의 발달과정을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하므로 활동체제를 통해 조직의 복잡한 상호작용을 분석하는 이론적 틀로 활용할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내외의 활동이론 선행연구를 소개하고 교육행정학 분야에서 활동이론을 활용한 해외연구들을 Everhart가 제안한 교육행정학 질적연구의 경향으로 구분하였다. 또한 국내에서 활동이론을 적용할 수 있는 분야를 탐색하여 활동이론이 교육행정학 연구에서 질적연구의 한 방법으로 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다. 본 연구를 통해 연구자들이 활동이론에 관심을 가지고 심도있게 논의할 수 있는 장이 마련되어 활동이론이 교육행정학에 새로운 학문적 패러다임으로 자리매김할 수 있기를 기대한다.
This study aims to explore the applicability of activity theory in the field of educational administration as a new research method, focusing on the recent attention to qualitative research methods in the field of educational administration. Activity theory aims to analyze the development process of activities in organizations along with learning, so it can be used as a theoretical framework to analyze complex interactions in organizations through activity systems. Therefore, in this study, previous studies on activity theory at home and abroad were introduced, and foreign studies that utilized activity theory in the field of educational administration were classified as qualitative research trends in educational administration proposed by Everhart. In addition, by exploring areas to which activity theory can be applied in Korea, the possibility that activity theory can be used as a qualitative research method in educational administration research was confirmed. Through this study, it is hoped that a forum for researchers to discuss in depth with interest in activity theory will be provided so that activity theory can establish itself as a new academic paradigm in educational administration.
