왕청현 봉오동은 1900년대 초 최진동과 그 형제들에 의해 개척되었고, 이들은 마적 등의 침입으로부터 한인을 보호하고 개척지를 지키고자, 1915년경 자위단을 조직하고 봉오동 주위에 토성을 쌓았다. 그 뒤 최진동이 1919년 3·1운동을 주도하면서 독립운동에 적극적으로 나서면서 자위단을 독립군 단체인 도독부로 개편하였다. 이로써 봉오동 지역은 독립군 기지로 전환하였다. 이후 북간도 지역 내 독립군 통합운동을 펼치던 홍범도의 부대와 통합하여 대한군무도독부를 조직하면서 봉오동은 사령부 기지가 되었다. 그 뒤 대한군무도독부는 당시 북간도 내 최대 조직이었던 국민회와 통합하여 대한북로독군부로 재탄생하였다. 이에 대한북로독군부는 조직을 정비하고 무장력을 높여 최고의 독립군 조직이 되었다. 그 결과 대한북로독군부가 1920년 6월 일본 정규군과의 첫 전투인 봉오동 전투에서 승리하는 성과를 거둘 수 있었다.
Bongo-dong, Wangcheong-hyeon, was pioneered by Choi Jin-dong and his brothers in the early 1900s, and they organized the Self-Defense Forces around 1915 and built Saturn around Bongo-dong to protect the Korean people and protect the frontier. After that, Choi Jin-dong led the March 1st Movement in 1919, actively participating in the independence movement, reorganizing the Self-Defense Forces into the Dodokbu(都督府), an independent military organization. As a result, the Bongo-dong area was converted into an independent military base. Since then, Bongo-dong has become a headquarters base by integrating with Hong Beom-do’s unit, which was conducting an independence army integration movement in the Bukgando area, to form the DaeHangunmudokgunbu(大韓軍武督軍府). After that, the DaeHangunmudokgunbu(大韓軍武督軍府) was integrated with the National Association, the largest organization in Bukgando at the time, and reborn as the Daehanbukrodokgunbu(大韓北路軍督軍部). As a result, the Daehanbukrodokgunbu(大韓北路軍督軍部) has become the best independent military organization by reorganizing its organization and increasing its armed forces. As a result, the Daehanbukrodokgunbu(大韓北路軍督軍部) was able to win the Battle of Bongodong, the first battle against the Japanese regular army in June 1920.
