본 연구의 목적은, 다산 정약용의 사상에 기초한 ‘책임윤리’의 수립 가능성과 범위의 확장을 논의하고, 이 작업이 서양의 책임윤리 및 현대 학교교육에 어떤 시사점을제공할 수 있는지 개략적으로 고찰하는 것이다. ⓐ 연구 목적의 달성을 위해, 본 연구에서는 먼저 책임윤리를 수립하는 데 요구되는 최소한의 공통 조건들을 도출한뒤, 다산의 사상에서 해당 조건들이 발견되는지 검토하였다. 그 결과, 선택의 대상- 도심과 인심의 대별, 결단의 능력(자유)-자주지권으로서 권형, 대가의 존재-인간과금수의 차이 등이 연결되는 까닭에, 일정 수준 이상의 책임윤리가 수립될 수 있다는결론을 내렸다. ⓑ 이어서 본 연구에서는 다산의 사상에 기초한 책임윤리의 범위 확장에 대해 살펴보았다. 결론적으로 그는, 유생물의 기호를 충족시켜 주어야 하는 책임은 인간에게 있다는 점, 자연(무생물)의 원리에 대한 정확한 관찰과 이해가 필요하다는 점, 책임져야 할 명확한 외연의 설정 및 미지의 영역에 대해서는 간단(間斷) 없는 탐구가 요청된다는 점 등을 여러 차례 언급하였기 때문에, 책임윤리의 범위 확장도 가능함을 확인하였다. ⓒ 끝으로 본 연구에서는 다산의 사상에 기초한 책임윤리가 이론(요나스의 책임윤리)과 실제(학교 도덕교육)라는 측면에서 어떤 시사점을제공할 수 있는지 제안하였다. 전자는 기술의 위협, 미래 세대의 존속이라는 문제의식은 공유하되 해결을 위한 접근방식에는 다변화를 꾀할 수 있다는 것이고, 후자는 현행 도덕과 교육과정 및 교과서 내용과 관련해 책임에 대한 전통적 한국윤리사상의 관점을 보완, 보강할 수 있다는 것이다.
The purpose of this study is to discuss the possibility to establish and expansion of scope of ethics of responsibility based on Dasan's thoughts, and to outline what implications this work can have for Western ethics of responsibility and modern school education. In order to achieve the study purpose, this study first derives the minimum common conditions required to establish a ethics of responsibility, and then examines whether the conditions are found in Dasan's thoughts. As a result, it is concluded that a certain level of ethics of responsibility could be established because contents related to the object of choice, the ability to make decisions(freedom), and the existence of reward are evenly found. Subsequently, this study examines the expansion of the scope of ethics of responsibility based on Dasan's thoughts. Since, Dasan mentioned the responsibility to satisfy the preferences of creatures lies with humans, the need for accurate observation and understanding of the principles of nature(inanimate), the need to clearly set the outer boundaries to be responsible and continuous exploration of unknown areas and so on, it is possible to expand the scope of ethics of responsibility based on his thoughts. Finally, this study proposes what implications the ethics of responsibility based on Dasan's thoughts can provide in terms of theory(H. Jonas' ethics of responsibility) and practice(school moral education). The former shares the problem consciousness of the threat of technology and the survival of future generations, but can diversify its approach to solution. In addition, the latter can reinforce the perspective of traditional Korean ethics of responsibility in relation to the contents of the current moral education curriculum and textbooks.
