본고는 “『金光明經』의 三身의 極果를 『大乘起信論』에서 一心에서 二 門을 열어 그 핵심을 꿰뚫어 이어받았다”는 원효의 명제를 분석하여 그 정합성을 검증한 고찰이다. 원효의 대명제를 확인하기 위하여 원효 의 논리를 따라 양 경문을 분석하고 확인하였다. 다만 선행된 연구를 토대로 특히 이 논문에서는 『대승기신론』(이하 『기신론』, 혹은 논으로 약 칭)에 『금광명경』의 논리가 적용되는지와 『기신론』에서 그 논리가 핵 심적인 위치인지를 분석·검증한 고찰이다. 『合部金光明經』(이하『금광명경』으로 약칭)의 三身의 極果는 당시 인 도의 일원론과 이원론의 형이상학적 존재론의 난점을 한꺼번에 꿰뚫 어 해결한 『금광명경』만의 명쾌한 본체와 현상에 관한 정의로서의 不 一不二論이다. 『금광명경』의 삼신의 궁극의 보리과인 삼신의 극과는 “불일불이의 작위없는 법신의 功德이 本願을 통하여 事를 자재하지만 이 실상은 아무나 보지 못하니 중생은 수행을 통해서만 이를 증득할 수 있다”는 것이다. 『금광명경』의 삼신의 극과의 정의를 동일한 의미를 가진 『기신론』의 언어로 요약한 내용은 다음과 같다. “작의없는 불일불이의 일심의 진 여자체상의 공덕은 진여의 用인 本願과 本行을 통하여 하지 않는 것이 없으나 이는 아무나 보지 못하니 중생은 수행을 통하여 이를 증득해야 한다.”이다. 본 고는 위의 『기신론』의 명제가 『금광명경』 삼신의 극과의 해당 명제 와 동일한 의미를 가지고 있는 등치 구조임을 먼저 확인하였고 다음으 로 경증과 이증을 통하여 이 명제가 『기신론』에서도 핵심내용에 해당 됨을 확인하였다. 이와 더불어 원효의 주석서를 통하여 그의 입장을 참고하고 검증하여 논과 동일한 입장임을 확인하였다. 이는 “『기신론』이 일심에서 이문을 열어 『금광명경』의 삼신의 극과의 핵심을 꿰뚫었다”는 원효의 명제가 『기신론』및 원효 스스로의 논리 속 에서 증명된다는 것을 확인시켜준다.
This paper is a positive review on Wonhyo’s proposition that Awakening of Faith (hereafter, AFM) opened Two Gates from One Mind and penetrated the core meaning of ultimate enlightenment of Trikāya in the Golden Light Sutra (hereafter, GLS) following the logic of AFM and Wonhyo. The ultimate enlightenment of Trikāya in the GLS is the wisdom of “neither one nor many” which penetrated and resolved contradictions that were difficult to resolve in the metaphysical ontology of monism and dualism in India at that time. Ultimate enlightenment of GLS is the reality in which the unseen power of intention-less dharma-kāya, that is “neither one, nor many” is manifesting in the phenomenal plane through its original vow. This reality cannot be seen by ordinary people, so unenlightened beings must practice to see the reality. Wonhyo said that AFM opened two gates from one mind and penetrated the core meaning of ultimate enlightenment of Trikāya in the GLS. The purpose of this paper is to verify the definition of Wonhyo through AFM and his logic. To verify Wonhyo’s definition, it is necessary to summarize the contents of AFM with reference to the ultimate enlightenment of the Trikāya in the GLS and confirm that the summarized content is also the core meaning of AFM. The contents of AFM summarized for this purpose are as follows: “There is nothing that the intention-less unseen power of the One mind does not do through the Original Vow(本願) and Original Deed(本行), which are the workings of the true thusness. However, since no one can see it, unenlightened beings must acquire it through practice.” If this proposition is verified as the core logic of AFM, then his comment “AFM opened Two Gates from One Mind and penetrated the core meaning of ultimate enlightenment of Trikāya in the GLS” will be verified. This paper confirmed the above proposition is the core logic of AFM by comparing and analyzing the proposition with the contents and logic of AFM. This confirms that Wonhyo's proposition that AFM opened Two Gates from One Mind and penetrated the core of GLS' ultimate enlightenment of Trikāya is proven in the logic of AFM and himself
