본 연구는 디지털 인문학 시대로 변화함에 따라 사전의 편찬과 개편이 어떠한 방향으로 이루어져 왔고 앞으로 어떠한 방향으로 개편이 이루어져야 할지에 대 하여『표준국어대사전』을 중심으로 논의하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 『표준국어대사전』은 2008년 웹사전이 도입되고 2016년 개방형 지식 대사전인 『우리말샘』이 개통되면서 크게 세 가지 변화를 겪었다. 첫째, 정보 제시 방식이 종이사전의 형식에서 웹사전의 형식으로 변화하였고, 둘째, 『우리말샘』과의 공존 체제에 따라 『표준국어대사전』에서는 ‘방언, 북한어, 옛말’이 모두 제외 되었으며, 셋째, 그동안의 여러 차례의 어문 규정의 개정에 맞추어 사전의 표제어, 띄어쓰기, 품사 정보, 활용 정보, 문법 정보, 뜻풀이, 부가 정보 등의 수정이 이루어졌다. 한편『표준국어대사전』의 향후 개편 방향은 크게 두 가지 목적을 지향해야 함을 제안하였다. 첫째, 사전 이용자의 편의를 확대하는 방향으로 개편되어야 한다. 둘째, 웹사전의 특성을 활용하는 방향으로 개편되어야 한다. 이전의 종이사 전에서 지면의 제약 때문에 생략되거나 축약되어 제시되었던 정보들을 이제는 지면의 제약 없이 충분히 제시할 수 있게 되었다. 따라서 다양하고 풍부한 활용 형의 제시, 오류형의 제시, 풍부한 용례 제시, 검색용 이형태의 적극적인 활용 등이 제안될 수 있다. 본 연구는 『표준국어대사전』이 편찬된 이후로의 개편과 변화 양상을 디지털 인문학적 관점에서 정리하여 제시하였다는 점에서 의미를 가진다. 또한 앞으로 『표준국어대사전』을 개편해 나가는 데에 참고가 될 만한 개편 방향을 제시해 주었다는 점에서 의미를 가질 수 있을 것이다.
The purpose of this study is to discuss the actual and ideal directions in dictionary compilation and revisions with changes in the era of digital humanities, with a focus on the Standard Korean Language Dictionary. The Standard Korean Language Dictionary underwent major changes with the introduction of a web dictionary system in 2008 and the opening of an open knowledge dictionary, Urimalsam, in 2016. First, the information presentation method was changed to a form more appropriate for a web dictionary by abandoning the old style of the paper dictionary. Second, “dialect, North Korean, and old words” were all excluded from the Standard Korean Language Dictionary in light of its coexistence with Urimalsam; and third, headwords, spacing, parts of speech, inflection, grammatical information, definitions, and additional information were modified according to the revision of the grammar rules several times in the past. It is suggested that future revisions of the Standard Korean Language Dictionary should serve two main purposes. First, the dictionary should be revised according to the convenience of its users. Second, it should be revised to avail itself fully of the characteristics of web dictionaries. Information that was omitted or abbreviated due to space limitations in the paper dictionary can now be properly presented without space limitations. For this purpose, it will be possible to present more varied and abundant inflectional forms, present error forms and abundant examples, and support the use of allomorphy in searches. This study is meaningful by summarizing and presenting the revisions and changes since the compilation of the Standard Korean Language Dictionary from the digital humanities perspective. Additionally, it indicates directions for future revisions of the Standard Korean Language Dictionary.
