본 연구는 문재인 정부에서 좌파 포퓰리즘이 발흥하게 되었던 원인과 결과를 분석하고 한국 민주주의에의 함의를 모색하고자 한다. 우선 이론적으로 포퓰리즘을 민주주의와 경제적 불평등의 심화라는 정치경제적 관점에서 이해한다. 그리고 문재인 정부의 사례를 통해 좌파 포퓰리즘의 계기와 좌파 포퓰리즘 정부의 동원 전략을 정치적 차원과 경제적 차원에서 분석한다. 마지막으로 문재인 정부의 좌파 포퓰리즘 전략의 민주주의적 한계를 지적하고 한국 민주주의에 대한 시사점을 도출한다.
This study aims to analyze the cause and phenomenon of left populism in the Moon Jae-in government. First, we understand the emergence of populism from a political economic perspective of democracy and economic inequality. And, through the case of Moon Jae-in government, the causes of the emergence of left populism and the mobilization strategies of the populist government are analyzed at the political and economic levels. Finally, the study points out the limitation of the populist strategy of the Moon Jae-in government, and seeks to draw implications for democracy in South Korea.
