이 글은 황해도굿 <군웅거리>에 사용하는 무구 둑대의 의미와 연원을 찾은 글이다. 황해도굿 <군웅거리>에 사용하는 둑대는 그동안 군웅대로 알려졌는데 <초감흥거리>에서 이미 둑대를 제작하여 무구로 사용하므로 군웅대는 정확한 명칭은 아니다. <초감흥거리>에서 둑대를 흔드는 것은 <초감흥거리>가 그날 굿에 사용할 무복과 무구를 모두 둘러내기 때문이다. <군웅거리>에서는 둑대에 방울을 달아 무구로 사용한다. 제물로 올린 통돼지를 사냥하는 도구 역할을 둑대가 한다. <군웅거리> 이후에 진행되는 <타살감흥거리>에서 둑대가 다시 사용되는데 이때는 제물을 운감하는 데 사용하고 모든 액을 물리기 위해 둑대를 밖으로 던진다. 이처럼 둑대는 <초감흥거리>부터 <타살감흥거리>까지 사용하는 무구로 군웅대로 한정할 수는 없다. <군웅거리>에서는 둑대에 방울을 단다. <군웅거리>의 특징을 둑대의 방울이 보여준다고 할 수 있지만 <군웅거리>의 연행 상황을 바탕으로 할 때 특별한 기능을 하는 것은 아니다. 이것은 두레기에 방울이 달려있지만 특별한 기능을 하지 않는 것과 동일하다. 둑대에 방울을 다는 것은 둑제에서 중심이 되는 둑기의 형상을 둑대가 계승했기 때문이라고 보았다. 둑기의 모습은 방울의 모습을 연상하게 하고, 조선왕조실록에는 둑기가 스스로 울어 변고를 알렸다는 기록이 있어, 둑기를 수용한 둑대에 방울을 단 것으로 보았다. 무엇보다 황해도굿이 싸움굿이라는 황해도굿 종사자들의 말에 주목하여 군사문화를 수용한 흔적이 둑대라고 보았다. 하지만 이러한 논의는 개연성을 가지기 위해서 좀 더 다양한 자료를 찾아 보완하여야 할 것이다.
This study is aimed to examine the meaning and origin of Dukdae, a shamanistic tool used in Hwanghae-do Gut <Gununggeori>. Dukdae used in Hwanghae-do Gut <Gunwoonggeori> has been known as Gunwoongdae so far, but as Dukdae was already made and used as a shamanistic tool in <Chogamheunggeori>, Gunwoongdae is not the exact name. The reason for shaking Dukdae in <Chogamheunggeori> is to adapt to the Gutpan by sharing all the shamanistic clothes and tools to be used at the Gut, <Chogamheunggeori>, on that day. In <Gunwoonggeori>, bells are attached to Dukdae and used as shamanistic tools. Dukdae has roles as a tool to hunt the pig offered as a sacrifice entirely. In <Tasalgamheunggeori> that is performed after <Gunwoonggeori>, Dukdae is used again, and at this time, it is used to see if the sacrifice is satisfying, and then, it is thrown out to drive away all the evils. As described above, Dukdae is a shamanistic tool used in <Chogamheunggeori> and <Tasalgamheunggeori>, and the name, Gunwoongdae, is not accurate. In <Gunwoonggeori>, bells are hung on Dukdae. The bells on Dukdae can be said to characterize <Gunwoonggeori>; however, considering the progress of <Gunwoonggeori>, we can conclude that they do not have special functions. This is the same as the bells hung on Duregi having no particular functions. This researcher assumes that bells are attached to Dukdae because the shape of Dukgi that forms the center of Dukje is handed down by Dukdae. The appearance of Dukdae reminds us of the shape of bells, and there is a record in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty that Dukdae cried on its own to announce the crisis. This is why bells are hung on Dukdae that follows Dukgi. Above all, those engaged in Hwanghae-do Gut say Hwanghae-do Gut is Gut of Fighting, and with that, this author sees that Dukdae is a trace of adopting military culture. To make this discussion more plausible, however, it will be needed to search more data for further complementation.
