연구 목적: 본 연구의 목적은 코로나19 시기 시각장애 대학생들의 경험과 지원 요구를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 K 대학에서 포커스 그룹 인터뷰(focus group interview, FGI)를 수행하였다. 연구 방법: 총 6명의 시각장애 학생이 실시간 온라인 화상회의 프로그램 Zoom을 사용하여 인터뷰에 참여하였다. 인터뷰 내용은 총 38쪽으로 전사되었으며 주제 분석(thematic analysis)이 실시되었다. 연구 결과: 총 3개의 영역에서 9개의 하위영역과 24개의 의미단위가 도출되었다. 첫째, 강의수강 영역에서는 출석 체크, 수업 참여, 시험 진행에 관한 경험과 지원 요구가 나타났다. 둘째, 대인관계 영역에서는 자아 개념, 또래 관계, 사제 관계에 관한 경험과 지원 요구를 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 학교생활 영역에서는 시설 이용, 이동ㆍ보행, 제도ㆍ인식에 관한 경험과 지원 요구에 대해 깊이 있게 탐색할 수 있었다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과를 기초로 다가올 포스트 코로나 시대에 시각장애 학생들에게 더 의미 있는 대학생활을 제공하기 위해 고등교육 기관과 특수교육 관계자, 교육 구성원 모두가 함께 고민해야 할 점에 대해 논의하고 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구에 관한 제언을 서술하였다.
Purpose: The purpose of the study is to explore the experiences and support needs of college students with visual impairment during COVID-19. For this purpose, a focus group interview (FGI) was conducted at K University in Seoul. Method: A total of 6 college students with visual impairments participated in the interview using Zoom, a live online video conferencing program. The interview contents were transcribed into 38 pages and a thematic analysis was performed. Results: The analysis results derived 3 domains, 9 subdomains, and 24 meaning units. First, in the domain of taking a course, it was possible to explore in depth the experience and support needs related to attendance checks, class participation, and test progress. Second, in the domain of interpersonal relationships, it was possible to explore in depth the experience and support needs related to self-concept, peer relationships, and faculty relationships. Third, in the domain of university life, it was possible to explore in depth the experience and support needs related to facility use, movement & walking, and policy & cognition. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, for the purpose of providing a more meaningful university life for college students with visual impairments in the coming post-COVID-19 era, the issues that should be considered together by higher education institutions, special education officials, and education members were discussed, and suggestions for follow-up studies were presented.
