본고는 아쿠타가와 류노스케 문학 속에 보이는 광기의 배경과 양상을 고찰한 것이다. 아쿠타가와 텍스트의 광기의 모티프는 생모의 정신이상이라는 트라우마와 및 세기말 예술의 영향과 결부시켜 살펴보았다. 아쿠타가와의 초기의 문학은 탄탄한 플롯과 함께 스토리텔러적인 것이 특징이다. 그러나 만년의 작품에서는 극한에 이른 미묘한 신경을 표현하려는 진지한 예술혼을 보여준다. 그의 작가로서의 출발은 광기의 어머니를 은폐하기 위한 시도였지만 결국 도달한 것은 의식을 초월한 무한성의 세계와 이성을 넘어선 꿈과 광기라는 무의식의 세계이다. 이러한 노정 끝에 도달한 곳은 결국 생모의 광기에 대한 직시라고 보았다. ‘인공의 날개’ 로 상징되는 이지･ 이성･ 의식･ 기교를 지향한 초기의 창작 태도를 접고 인간의 의식을 초월한 무의식의 세계가 있음을 통찰했을 때 그의 문학은 독자적인 새로운 영역을 개척하게 된 것이라고 보았다. 아쿠타가와가 그려낸 그로테스크한 광기의 세계는 무의식 심층의 억압이 표출된 것이라고 말할 수 있다. 이성의 무력을 인정하고 의식세계를 넘어선 광활한 무의식의 세계를 탐사하는 과정에서 현대문학의 새로운 지평을 열어놓았다고 고찰했다.
This paper examines the background and aspects of madness motif in Akutagawa’s. literature This is related to the trauma of the birth mother’s insanity and the influence of fin-de-siӗcle art. Akutagawa’s early literature is a technical plot and storyteller. However, in his later works, he meticulously describes subtle nerves and emotions that have reached their limits. His departure as a writer was conscious to erase the mother of madness, but what he reached was a mysterious world beyond consciousness. At this time, he stares directly at the madness of his birth mother. He gives up his early creative attitude of intelligence, reason, and technique, which is symbolized by ‘Artificial Wings’. His literature opens up a new horizon when he discovers that there is a vast world of unconsciousness beyond human consciousness. The world of grotesque madness created by Akutagawa was the opposite of suppression of unconsciousness. Akutagawa acknowledged the force of reason and explored other worlds beyond the conscious world. In the process, it can be said that a new horizon of modern literature was opened.
