The results of the global field trip project have proven that global field trips are of great help in acquiring major-related knowledge, and are evaluated to be helpful in employment both in Korea and overseas. The purpose of this study is to develop a nursing competency diagnostic tool that can measure the job competency of nursing students who participated in global field trips for the establishment of the systemic system of global field trips at junior colleges and verify educational effectiveness. To develop the diagnostic tool, first, analysis of 5 prior research, interviews with 4 nursing students and 3 field experts participating in global field trips, written reviews, and 7 expert opinions were collected. Preliminary and main investigations were conducted using the component factors and diagnostic items for each factor derived from this, and the suitability of the measurement model was secured through statistical analysis such as exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and reliability analysis. The final diagnostic tool developed was composed of five factors: Nursing practice, Communication, Self-directed learning, Nursing professionalism, Acknowledgment and improvement of health care environment, and a total of 25 items were confirmed with 5 items for each factor. The diagnostic tool developed through this study is meaningful in that it is a new tool to evaluate educational performance in securing competitiveness in the global era and strengthening overseas employment capabilities. It is intended to contribute to the development of job competency and employment competencies.
