이 논문은 중국 청대에 유행한 박쥐문을 18세기 말 정조대에 받아들이게 된 역사적 배경을 살 펴보고 그 이후 19세기 중반 조선과 청대 궁궐에서 표현된 박쥐문의 형식과 내용을 비교 분석하여 민족적 양식을 밝히려는 연구이다. 그동안 박쥐문에 대해서는 문양사 분야의 일부 연구가 있었지 만 그 기원이나 수용시기는 연구된 바 없었다. 조선 왕실에서는 18세기 말 정조가 사친인 사도세자와 혜경궁의 환갑을 맞이하여 당시 청 건륭제의 즉위 50주년과 7-80세의 연회에 관심을 갖고 사신 과 화가를 보내어 관련 의례를 기록하고 그려오게 하였다. 그 결과 혜경궁이 탈 가마를 새로 제작 할 때 박쥐문이 다양한 형태로 응용된 것이 확인된다. 이후 조선 왕실은 각종 공예품에 박쥐문을다양하게 활용하였다. 특히 19세기 중반 조선과 청나라 궁궐 건축에 박쥐문은 다양하게 적용되는데, 특히 창덕궁 낙선재와 베이징 공왕부가 대표적인 사례이다. 양자의 벽이나 기둥, 난간 및 창호 등에는 다종다양한 박쥐문이 적용되었는데, 공왕부의 경우 명확한 의미를 지닌 정확한 형상의 박 쥐문이 표현된 반면 낙선재의 경우 간략하고 단순한 표현이 많았다. 이처럼 청과 조선의 박쥐문은기복이라는 인간의 욕망이 투영되어 유행했지만, 실제 표현에서는 양국의 민족성이 반영되었음을 확인할 수 있었다.
This paper considered the historical background of accepting the bat gate, which was popular in the Qing Dynasty of China, and attempts to clarify the national style by comparing and analyzing the format and contents of the bat gate expressed in Joseon and Qing Dynasty palaces in the mid-19th century. In the meantime, there have been some studies in the field of pattern history on bat doors, but the origin or acceptance period has not been studied. At the end of the 18th century, King Jeongjo was interested in the 50th anniversary of the enthronement of the Qing Dynasty and the banquet of 7-80 years old, and sent envoys and painters to record and paint related rituals. As a result, it is confirmed that Hyegyeonggung Palace was applied in various forms under the theme of bat doors when making a new knife kiln. Since then, the Joseon royal family has used various bat doors for various crafts. In particular, the Bat Gate is applied in various ways to the architecture of Joseon and Qing palaces in the mid-19th century, and Nakseonjae of Changdeokgung Palace and the Gongwangbu of Beijing are representative examples. Various bat doors were applied to the walls, pillars, railings, and windows of the two, the former expressed accurately shaped bat doors with clear meanings, while the latter had many simple expressions. As such, it was confirmed that the bat gate of Cheong and Joseon was popular due to the projection of the human desire of ups and downs, and the ethnicity of both countries was reflected.
