본 연구는 신평면 도서관의 건립 타당성 수립을 위한 기초연구로서 수행되었다. 지역주민을 대상으로 설문조사를 수행하고, 도서관 관계자 및 전문가, 지역주민의 의견 및 요구를 분석하여 건립 필요성 및 타당성, 운영 전략 방향을 도출하고자 하였다. 연구결과를 기반으로 제시하는 논의사항은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 도서관 시설 개선 및 새로운 도서관 건립이 필요하다. 둘째, 다양한 연령층의 수요를 고려한 맞춤형 공간 구성 및 독서․문화프로그램 개발이 필요하다. 셋째, 도서관 내부 운영과 외부 연계사업을 고르게 진행하기 위해서는 사서 인력을 충원해야 할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 지역 문화 거점 공간으로서의 역할을 수행하기 위한 공간을 조성할 필요가 있다. 다섯째, 신평면 도서관 개관 이후 도서관의 원활한 운영을 위한 정책 수립을 모색할 필요가 있다. 향후 당진시 신평면 도서관은 지역의 새로운 랜드마크가 될 수 있는 도서관 건립을 통해 장서의 질적․양적 향상을 모색하고, 새로운 콘텐츠와 운영 비전을 발굴하여 지역사회의 복합문화공간으로서의 역할을 수행해야 하며, 지역주민의 삶의 질 향상을 위한 다양한 대외적 서비스를 제공해야 할 것이다.
This study was performed as a basic study for establishing the feasibility of construction of the Shinpyeong-myeon Library. In particular, a questionnaire survey was carried out targeting the local residents, and the opinions and demands of the library personnel, experts, and local residents were analyzed, Subsequently, an attempt was made to derive the need and feasibility of the construction, as well as the direction of the related operation strategy. The matters of the discussion presented based on the study results are as follows (regarding Shinpyeong-myeon, Dangjin-shi).. First, it is necessary to improve the library facilities and build a new library. Second, it is necessary to create a space customized to the needs of various age groups and develop reading and cultural programs. Third, it is necessary to increase the number of librarians to evenly carry out the internal operation of the library and the externally linked projects. Fourth, it is necessary to create a space as a regional hub of culture. Fifth, it is necessary to seek a policy development for the amicable and smooth operation of the library after the Shinpyeong-myeon Library is opened. Moving forward, the Shinpyeong-myeon Library of Dangjin-shi ought to seek to 1. improve the quality and quantity of its books and collections based on the construction of a library that may become a new landmark in the Shinpyeong-myeon Library area, 2. discover new contents and visions of operation, and play the role of a complex cultural space for the community, and 3. provide various external services to help enhance the quality of life of local residents.
