Jonas Hassen Khemiri’s Montecore, the representative work of the contemporary Swedish “immigrant literature”, deals with living as non-Caucasian Swedes who have difference in the point of view regarding being Swedish. Abbas, the first-generation migrant in Sweden, tries to become well-integrated into Swedish society. On the one hand, Jonas, second-generation “migrant”, is rather interested in living on the margin after realising the limitation as a non-white Swede. Abbas, put a great emphasis on passing for white Swede, gives up his creative and diverse hybrid Swedish, loses his ego in the end. Meanwhile, Jonas starts the writing about his father’s turbulent life. His writing helps understand his alienated father. Montecore shows not giving up on the will to come to mutual understanding between father and son as non—white Swedes.
