교가(校歌)는 시대를 막론하고 학교를 대표하는 표상으로, 학교의 중요한 행사나 기념식에 불러지며 학생들로 하여금 모교에 대한 자긍심이나 소속감을 고취시키는 역할을 해왔다. 뿐만 아니라 성인이 된 이후에도 동문이라는 연대감을 갖고 의미 있는 날을 기념하기 위해 교가를 부르며 향수를 자극하기도 한다. 그런데 이렇게 오랜 시간동안 지속적으로 불러지는 교가가 음악적 오류나 적절하지 못한 가사로 표현되어 있다면 자칫 잘못된 가치관이나 음악적 오개념을 심어줄 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 이러한 문제의식을 갖고 강원도 지역의 중학교 교가에 나타나는 음악적 오류와 가사의 적절성에 대해 분석하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 박자표, 마디줄, 음자리표, 조표 등의 기호 크기나 위치가 기보법에 맞지 않았으며 중복이나 누락으로 오사용 되었다. 가사의 적절성에서는 시대착오적인 가사나 성 편향적인 표현이 많아 시대의 흐름에 맞는 인재상이나 교육목표에 부합되는 가사로 바꿀 필요성이 있었다. 이 연구를 계기로 일선의 학교들은 교가가 보편적 가치를 반영해 학교 정체성과 구성원의 결속 강화, 미래 비전 공유라는 순기능을 가질 수 있도록 변화를 모색하길 기대한다.
The school song is a symbol of school regardless of the times. It is sung at important school events and commemorative ceremonies, and has played a role in encouraging students to feel proud of their alma mater or to belong. Not only that, even after becoming an adult, they sang school songs to commemorate a meaningful day with a sense of solidarity as alumni, stimulating nostalgia. However, if a school song that has been sung continuously for a long time is expressed with musical errors or inappropriate lyrics, it may instill wrong values or misconceptions about music. Therefore, this study analyzed the appropriateness of lyrics and musical errors in middle school songs in Gangwon-do with awareness of the problem. As a result of the analysis, first, the size or position of symbols such as time signature, bar line, clef, and key signature did not match the notation method and were misused due to duplication or omission. As for the appropriateness of the lyrics, there were many anachronistic lyrics or gender-biased expressions, so it was necessary to change the lyrics to fit the image of a talented person or educational goals of the times. With this study as an opportunity, front-line schools are expected to seek changes so that school songs reflect universal values and have the positive function of school identity, strengthening the solidarity of members, and sharing a future vision.
