During the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. experienced remarkable growth in the number of homeschoolers, from 3.3 percent in spring 2019 to 11.1 percent in fall 2020. Naturally, the pandemic-generated “accidental homeschoolers” are in search of the best fitting curriculum for homeschooling their children. After examining various homeschooling curricula, in criteria of developmental characteristics, user-friendliness, comprehensiveness, flexibility, and cost, the researchers conclude that Charlotte Mason, unit studies, or eclectic curriculum of those two are most appropriate for grades 1~3, and school-at-home, unit studies, or eclectic curriculum of the two for grades 4~6. An answer to which specific curriculum would best suit a particular child would require further assessment of other individualized factors.
