본 연구에서는 Richter, Gilbert와 McEwan(2009)이 개발한 따뜻함과 안전 초기기억 척도(Early Memories of Warmth and Safeness Scale; EMWSS)를 한국어로 번안한 후, 한국판 따뜻함과 안전 초기기억 척도를 타당화하고자 하였다. 50세 미만 성인 400명에게 EMWSS와 양육태도, 비수용적 환경, 우울, 불안, 정신적 웰빙 측정치를 실시하였다. 400명을 무선적으로 106명과 294명으로 나눈 다음, 106명을 대상으로 탐색적 요인분석을, 294명을 대상으로 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석 모두에서 원척도와 동일하게 1요인 모형이 가장 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 모든 자료를 통합하여 타당도를 검증한 결과, EMWSS는 양육태도_애정 및 비수용적 환경과 유의미한 상관을 나타내 수렴타당도가 입증되었고, 우울, 불안, 정신적 웰빙과도 유의미한 상관을 보여 준거관련 타당도가 검증되었다. 또한 비수용적 환경 및 양육태도_거절의 설명량을 제외하고도 우울, 불안, 정신적 웰빙에 미치는 영향력이 유의미하여 증분타당도가 입증되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 한국판 EMWSS가 신뢰롭고 타당한 도구라는 점에 대해 논의하였다.
The study validated the Korean version of the Early Memories of Warmth and Safeness Scale (EMWSS; Ritcher et al, 2009). 400 adults responded to measures for EMWSS, invalidating environment, parenting attitude, depression, anxiety, and mental well-being. 400 people were randomly divided into two groups of 106 and 294 for exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, respectively. As with the original scale, the one-factor model appeared to be the most appropriate. The EMWSS’s convergent validity was confirmed by significant correlations with parenting attitude (affection) and invalidating environment. The EMWSS’s correlation with depression, anxiety, and mental well-being also confirmed criterion-related validity. The impact on depression, anxiety, and mental well-being was significant even when the amount of explanation of invalidating environment and parenting attitude (rejection) was removed, indicating incremental validity. Based on these findings, it was demonstrated that the Korean version of EMWSS is a reliable and valid tool.
