최근 한국어를 공부하기 위해 한국을 찾는 외국인 학습자의 수가 크게 증가하면서 한국어 학습자의 의사소통 능력 습득에 도움을 줄 수 있는 한국문화 교육 방안에 관한 논의가 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에 서는 언어교육에서 문화교육의 필요성 및 중요성에 관한 인식을 바탕으 로 현행 한국어 고급 교재의 문화 내용 및 수업 활동의 제시 양상을 고찰 하였다. 문화교육에 관한 선행연구의 결과를 토대로 교재 분석 기준과 분 석 대상 교재를 선정하고, 외국어교육 분야의 문화 수업 모형을 참고하여 문화 수업의 단계를 문화 이해, 문화 해석, 문화 비교, 문화 수용, 문화 평가의 다섯 단계로 설정하였다. 표준 모형의 문화 항목 분류를 바탕으로 고급 단계 한국어 교재의 문화 교육 내용을 성취문화, 행동문화, 정보문화로 구분하여 각 교재별로 문화 항목별 교육 내용 제시 방식 및 학습자 활동 구성 양상을 비교, 분석하였다. 이러한 분석의 결과를 토대로 고급 단 계 한국어 교재의 문화 교육 방식에 관한 개선점과 보완점을 제안하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 최근 관심이 높아지고 있는 학문 목적 과정의 준비 단계로서 고급 단계 한국어 학습자의 원활한 의사소통 능력 습득을 위한 문화교육의 중요성 및 유용성을 인식하고 실제 자료 분석을 바탕으로 한 국문화 교육의 구체적인 방안을 모색하였다는 데에 의의가 있다. 앞으로 한국어교육의 효과를 높일 수 있는 구체적이며 체계적인 문화교육 방안에 관한 다양한 연구가 이어지기를 기대한다.
The purpose of this study is to review a development status of Korean cultural education for the advanced and to suggest it's development direction. The need for cultural education in Korean language education is increasing with the significant increase in the number of the Korean language learners. Although this need is prevalent, it is still not enough to learn about Korean culture from current Korean textbooks. This study tries to examine how Korean cultural education is going by analyzing cultural contents and the task activities from Korean textbooks of advanced level on the basis of the stages of cultural studies from a cross- cultural standpoint. The result suggests some points to be modified or improved in Korean cultural education for the advanced. This study is significant as it recognizes the importance of cultural education in Korean language education and attempts to find an efficient way for Korean cultural education by analyzing the vast real data. The result of this study is expected to provide information on anticipated future studies in Korean cultural education for proficient communication in Korean language. Another expectation is that there will be many other studies in Korean cultural education focused on various subjects such as how to present effectively Korean culture in Korean textbooks and how to teach it.
