본 연구의 목적은 현재 사회활동에 참여하고 있는 고기능 자폐성장애인들의 장애 인식 및 들이 지각하는 문제점 및 개선을 위한 지원요구를 파악하는데 있다. 자폐성장애인의 보호자가 아닌 당사자를 대상으로 이러한 주제를 다루고 있는 선행연구가 제한적이므로, 고기능 자폐성장애인 당사자와의 일대일 심층면담을 진행하여 자료를 수집하였다. 남성 5명, 여성 2명 총 7명의 남녀 자폐성장애인이 연구에 참여하였으며, 심층면담을 통해 수집한 자료는 텍스트로 변환하여 질적내용분석(Qualitative Content Analysis)을 진행하였다. 자료의 분석결과 1) 장애진단 시기, 2) 자기 장애의 수용, 3) 장애인등록 계기 3가지의 대주제 아래 7가지 하위 주제가 도출되었다. 분석결과를 통해 장애진단 및 장애인등록 여부가 이들의 삶에 미친 영향을 확인하였고, 고기능 자폐성장애인 당사자의 관점이 반영된 지원요구를 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 당사자들의 지원요구 실현을 위한 논의를 진행하고 후속연구를 제안하였다.
The purpose of this study was to examine the experiences of people with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder who were participating in social activities and to understand the problems perceived by them concerning the legal disability registration and military service system. As there were limited prior studies dealing with these subjects, focusing on people with ASD, data were collected by conducting in-depth one-on-one interviews with the people with ASD. Five men and two women with ASD participated in the study, and the data collected through interviews were analyzed qualitatively by the researchers. As a result of data analysis, seven sub-themes were derived under three main themes: 1) the time of diagnosis, 2) acceptance of disability, and 3) motive of disability registration. The analysis showed the impact of disability diagnosis, disability registration, and the support needs in the perspective of people with high-functioning ASD. In addition, there were discussions about how to meet their requirements, and a few follow-up studies were suggested.
