바티칸과의 단절이 오래되었지만 중국의 천주교는 기본적으로 가톨릭 보세(普世)교회의 원칙을 따르고 있다. 때문에 중국 천주교의 사제양성 교육과정 또한 세계 각국에서 보편적으로 실시되고 있는 교육과정과 비교했을 때 큰 차별이 없는 것으로 보인다. 하지만 사회주의를 지향하는 중국의 특수한 상황 때문에 다음과 같은 특징을 지니고 있다. 첫째, 종교학교의 설립과정과 운영에 있어 정부기관의 개입이 광범위하고 영향력 또한 크다. 둘째, 교육과정은 보편적 교육과정을 지키고 있으나, 중국 정부의 종교중국화 정책에 따라 중국 철학사상 방면의 교육이 강화되고 있다. 결론적으로, 중국 천주교 종교교육이 지닌 특징은 교육기관의 설립에서 교육내용에 이르기까지 사회주의적 종교정책이 관철되도록 다양한 장치가 마련되어 있다는 것에서 찾을 수 있다. 이 장치가 어떠한 실질적 효력을 발생할 지에 대해서는 지켜보아야 할 것이다.
China’s religious school education is thoroughly reflected in the state’s ideology. At the same time, it reflects the religious reality unique to China. Therefore, examining the status of religious education in China is one of the most rational and effective ways to predict the current status and future of Chinese religion. This study examines the characteristics of Chinese Catholic priest training education focusing on the licensing process and admission requirements of Chinese religious schools, and the interdisciplinary system and curriculum of religious schools. Catholicism in China has long been cut off from the Vatican. However, Catholicism in China basically follows the principles of the Catholic Bonded Church. Therefore, the Chinese Catholic priest training curriculum does not appear to be significantly different from that of other countries around the world. However, it has the following characteristics according to China’s special situation toward socialism. First, the involvement of national government agencies in the establishment process and operation of religious schools is extensive and influential. Second, although the curriculum maintains the universal curriculum, education in the area of Chinese philosophy and thought is being strengthened according to the Chinese government’s policy of religious-sinicization. In conclusion, the characteristics of Chinese Catholic religious education can be found in the fact that various devices are prepared to implement socialist religious policies from the establishment of educational institutions to the contents of education. It remains to be seen what practical effects this device will have.
