It is needed to understand antisocial behavior in childhood to unveil the transition from juvenile delinquency to adult crime. Using the data of Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey, the study examines the gender differences in correlates of school rules violation among the students of lower elementary school. According to the results, parental attachment, teacher attachment, stress from taking classes or studying, and association with classmates have significant effects on school rules violation for both male and female students, while abuse at home affects rules violation by female students. In addition, stress from taking classes or studying and association with classmates have lagged effects on school rules violation among male students. However, only family and school related variables have consistent influences on violation of school regulations for female students. The findings suggest that schools consider gender-specific issues when developing programs for the students of lower grades to better adjust to school. Moreover, comprehensive prevention programs are necessary to stop juvenile delinquents becoming adult criminals.
