이 글은 한국전쟁기 미군이 어떻게 북한 노획영상을 활용했는지를 다루었다. 북한 노획영상에 관한 기존 연구는 극영화와 기록영화의 내용적 분석에 집중되었고, 미군에 노획되는 과정이나 다른 영화에 재활용된 사례에 대한 연구는 없었다. 극동사령부와 미8군사령부 작전참모부(G-2)는 미 육군 2보병사단 내 G-2 책임자와 주요 부대원들로 ‘인디언헤드’를 조직하고 평양에 파견하여 정보적 가치가 높은 자료들을 노획했다. 미군은 노획된 자료로 자체적인 아카이브를 구축하고 반공 다큐멘터리를 제작해 전쟁 심리전에 활용했다. 미국 심리전략위원회소속 기관은 미국, 전쟁 상대국, 한국 등 여러 영역에서 체계적인 심리전을 기획하고 실행했다. 미육군부 정훈국과 극동사령부(FEC)의 민간정보교육국은 영화<The Big Lie>와 TV시리즈 <The Big Picture>에 북한 노획 푸티지 영상을 삽입해 재탄생시켰다. 이 두 영화와 북한 노획영상은 전쟁 중과 전후 심리전에 이용되어 냉전 확산에 영향을 끼쳤다.
This article was intended to deal with how the U.S. military used North Korea's capture Films during the Korean War. Previous studies dealing with North Korean Seized Film focused on the content analysis of feature films and documentary films, with no case studies of the process of being captured by the U.S. military or recycled into other films. The Far East Command and the U.S. Eighth United States Army Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff, G-2 (G-2) have organized Indianheads for G-2 officers and key members within the US Army 2nd Infantry Division and dispatched them to Pyongyang for informational value, Captured high material. The US military built its own archive of the captured materials, produced an anti-communist documentary, and used it in war psychological warfare. Organizations belonging to the US Psychological Strategy Committee have planned and executed systematic psychological warfare in many fields such as the United States, war partners, and South Korea. The Civil Information and Educational Section(CI&E) of the FEC Office have reborn the documentary <The Big Lie> and the TV series <The Big Picture> North Korean Seized footage Film. Historically, we analyzed the effects of movies and North Korean Seized Film on the spread of the Cold War, which were used during and after the war in psychological warfare.
