This study aims to investigate the motives for choosing a major, the relationship between the motive for choosing a major and academic satisfaction, and the relationship between the motive for choosing a major and career decision for college students majoring in tourismand hotel management. In the study, the survey period was fromJune 1, 2021 to June 30, 2021, for four weeks, and six four-year colleges with hospitality and tourism related departments at universities located in the Chungcheong region were selected and 30 copies of the surveys to each university were distributed totaling 180 copies in all. A total of 171 copies (95.0%) were recovered. And overall, a total of 164 copies (91.1%) were used as analysis targets. The results are summarized as follows. First, it was found that college students' motivation for major selection had a statistically significant positive (+) effect on academic satisfaction. Second, it was found that college students' major selection motive had a statistically significant positive (+) effect on career satisfaction. Third, it was found that academic satisfaction of college students had a statistically significant positive (+) effect on career decision. As a theoretical implication, it is important for students who are admitted through the motive for choosing a major to be satisfied with their studies.
