Purpose – The purpose of this study is to discuss the necessity of securing various cultural contents through resources related to the splendid culture, history, and life of the Goryeo Dynasty and the need to continuously hold the Ganghwa Goryeo Cultural Festival. Design, data, and methodology – This study presented the Ganghwa Goryeo Cultural Festival as a festival content that can secure competitiveness while utilizing the regional identity of a specific region. Ganghwa Goryeo Cultural Festival is a festival that has secured glocalism and is leading positive reviews from tourists. In order to carry out the research purpose, this study conducted in-depth interviews with tourists who participated in the Ganghwa Goryeo Cultural Festival. Result – Globalization without glocalism and regional identity can lead to a loss of differentiation and competitiveness. This is because, basically, culture is a means that is connected with the rise of the quality value and satisfaction of human life. Conclusions – The Ganghwa Goryeo Cultural Festival, which was temporarily held in 2018, functions as a differentiated tourism product in that it reproduces the culture and history of the Goryeo Dynasty. The differentiation and competitiveness of this Ganghwa Goryeo Cultural Festival has the effect of changing the image of Ganghwa-do, increasing local intimacy, securing local identity, and increasing local affinity.
