신동엽의 시는 이념 지향성이 명징한 주제 의식, 특유의 역사 인식이 방법적인 토대로 기능하는 재현 전략을 특징으로 한다. 유기체적 세계관을 반영한 오페레타적 시공간 구도, 낭만화된 자연을 경유한 완충지대의 이상은 신동엽 시에 드러나는 핵심적인 특징이다. 본고는 신동엽 시의 핵심 동학을 정치적 낭만성으로 규정하며, 신동엽시에 나타난 특유의 재현 양상을 면밀하게 추적하는 데 집중했다. 신동엽 시에서 자연과 인간은 유기체적인 관계를 맺으며, 자연 안에서 인간은 자신의 본질을 형성해 나간다. 시 의식이 실현되는 무대 또한 개별 시작품 안의 시공간을 넘어서며 초시간적, 초공간적, 초인간적인 특징을 보인다. 당위나 추상성에 반해 발 딛고 있는 실체적인 경험과 현실 위에 시공간 질서를 구축하는 정치적 낭만성의 논리다. 신동엽은 시극, 오페레타, 장시를 포괄하는 의미로 시를 정의한다. 시는 진정한 인간적인 해방을 실현하기 위한 최적의 도구로 채택된다. 결론적으로, 신동엽의 시적 이상은 정치적 낭만성을경유한 혁명의 논리로 드러난다. 구체적 현실에 기반한 재현 전략을 구사하면서도 혁명의 동학을 주제화하는 것은 신동엽 시의 핵심 인자라 할 것이다. 신동엽이 시화한물음은 문학사를 넘어서 문명사적인 화두로 재추인될 수 있는 여지를 남기고 있다.
Shin Dong-yeop’s poem is characterized by a theme consciousness clearly marked by ideology orientation and a reproduction strategy in which unique historical perception functions as a methodological basis. The ideal of an operetta-like spacetime composition reflecting the organic worldview and a buffer zone through romanticized nature are key features revealed in Shin Dong-yeop’s poetry. This paper defines the core dynamics of Shin Dong-yeop as political romanticism and focuses on closely tracking the unique representation modality that appeared in Shin Dong-yeop’s poetry. In Shin Dong-yeop’s poem, nature and humans form an organic relationship, and in nature, humans form their own essence as auto-formation. The stage where the poetic consciousness is realized also goes beyond the time and space in the individual starters, showing trans-temporal, trans-spatial and trans-human characteristics. It is the logic of political romanticity that builds a temporal and spatial order on top of the actual experience and reality that is stepping against justification or abstraction. Shin Dong-yeop defines poetry in the sense of encompassing poetic drama, operetta, and long poem. Poetry is adopted as the best tool to realize true human liberation. In conclusion, Shin Dong-yeop’s poetic ideal turns out to be the logic of the revolution through political romanticity. It would be said that the theme of the dynamics of the revolution while using a representation strategy based on concrete reality is a key factor in Shin Dong-yeop’s poetry. The question poeticized by Shin Dong-yeop leaves the possibility that it can be re-approved as a topic of civilization history beyond literary history.
