한자는 한자문화권의 공통문자로서 한자문화권의 나라에서 각국의 어휘를 이해하고 확장시키는데 많은 영향을 주고 있는 중요한 수단이이다. 또한 한자문화권 간의 유사한 한자 어휘는 한자문화권 나라 간에 동질감을 형성하여 각국이 발전·교류할 수 있는 토대를 만들어 주는 계기가 될 수 있다는 점에서도 중요 매개체이다. 한국어에서 한자 어휘는 높은 점유율을 보이고 있으며 고급 단계로 올라갈수 록 그 비중이 커진다. 어휘 중에서도 역사와 문화, 철학 등이 집약된 어휘 표현으로서 교육적, 문화적 가치를 지닌 것은 한자성어이다. 한자성어는 간결하지만특정한 의미를 포함하고 있기 때문에 긴 내용의 의미를 전달함에 있어서 적확하게 활용한다면 상당히 효율적이며 학문적이다. 현재 학문 목적 한국어 교육을 위한 한자성어 교재는 거의 없다. 고급 한국어학습자나 학문 목적으로 한국어를 배우는 학습자들은 어휘 능력과 함께 한국인의 문화와 한국인의 문화의식을 심도 있게 배울 수 있는 한자성어만을 다룬 교재가 필요하다. 한국에서 생성된 한자성어는 한국의 역사, 생활풍습, 자연환경, 종교 등에서 자연스럽게 생성되었기 때문에 한국만의 독특한 문화를 엿볼 수 있어 다른 영역과 연계하여 학습할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 이것은 단지 기존의 한국어 어휘나 읽기 교재에서 한자성어를 다룬 범위를 넘은 특화된 교재를 의미한다. 이 교재의 단원구성은 5단계로 분류하여 단순히 한자성어의 유래만이 아니라 실제 생활에 활용할 수 있는 다양한 정보와 지식을 보충하도록 단계를 구분하였다.

Among the Chinese characters' vocabulary, it is a Chinese character idiom that has educational and cultural value as a vocabulary expression that combines history, culture, and philosophy. Chinese idioms are concise but contain specific meanings, so they are quite efficient and academic if used accurately in conveying the meaning of long content. Currently, there are few Chinese character idioms text books for Korean language education for academic purposes. Advanced Korean learners or learners who learn Korean for academic purposes need textbooks dealing with only Chinese characters that allow them to learn Korean culture and Korean cultural consciousness in depth along with vocabulary skills.Since Chinese idioms generated in Korea were naturally created in Korean history, lifestyle, natural environment, and religion, it has the advantage of being able to learn in connection with other areas as it offers a glimpse of Korea's unique culture. This refers to a specialized textbook that goes beyond the scope of dealing with Chinese characters in existing Korean vocabulary or reading textbooks. The unit composition of this textbook was classified into five stages to supplement not only the origin of Chinese characters but also various information and knowledge that can be used in real life.
