이 글은 김채원 소설에 구현된 모성이라는 기표를 여성의 생물학적 신체로 환원시키지않고 그 기저의 ‘돌봄’ 윤리를 모색하며 여성 개인에게 국한되지 않는 보편 윤리로서의‘돌봄’을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 본고는 김채원 문학에 나타난 ‘돌봄’ 의 가역성과 그것이 구현된 ‘집’의 이미지들을 살펴본다. 2장에서는 장소 상실과 ‘살’의 가역성으로부터 추구되는 ‘돌봄’을 확인하고, 3장에서는 ‘돌봄’의 이미지가 ‘집’의 이미지를 통하여 구현되는 양상과 ‘돌봄’에 내재된 힘의 형상화를 논한다. 마지막으로 4장에서는 ‘돌봄’ 이 어긋나는 양상과 그것으로 인하여 환기되는 타자의 타자성을 확인하며, 이러한 타자성이 상호주체성을 가능하게 하는 토대가 된다는 것을 밝힌다. ‘돌봄’을 중심으로 하여 김채원의 소설을 읽어내는 본고의 작업이 ‘어머니’라는 표상에 대한 보다 실천적인 독해에 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.
In interpreting the signifier of motherhood embodied in Kim Chae-won’s literature, this paper does not reduce it to the biological body of a woman. Rather, by exploring the underlying ethic of ‘Care’, it aims to present ‘Care’ as a universal ethic that is not limited to individual women. To achieve this purpose, this paper examines the ‘Reversibility’ of ‘Care’ in Kim Chae-won’s literature and the images of ‘House’ that embodies the concept. In Chapter 2, it was confirmed that ‘Care’ is pursued based on the loss of place and the ‘Reversibility’ of ‘Flesh’. In Chapter 3, this paper examined the aspect in which the image of ‘Care’ is embodied through the house, and In particular, attention is paid to the shape of the caring body and the power of ‘caring’. Lastly, in Chapter 4, it was observed that the miscommunication of ‘Care’ evokes the other’s otherness. It is hoped that the work of this paper will contribute to a more practical reading of the representation of ‘Mother’.
