‘龍’자는 갑골문에서 ․․․․ 등 형태가 있다. 이 논문에서는 ‘龍’자에 지금까지 학계에서 해독한 의미와는 다른 의미가 있다는 것을 검토하였는데, 내용은 아래와 같다. 갑골문에는 ① “貞 : 弗其羌龍.「合集6633」”, ② “貞 : 弔羌龍.「合集6635」”, ③ “甲子卜 : 亞耳龍, 母(毋)啟, 其啟, 弗每, 又雨.「合集28021」”, ④ “貞 : 勿令𠂤(師)般取朿于彭龍.「合集8283」” 등 문장이 있다. 이 문장들 중에서 ①, ②의 은 ‘인명’이라는 의미로 쓰였고, ‘’는 ‘공격하다’, ‘섬멸하다, 무찌르다’로, ‘羌’자는 ‘羌族’으로, ‘弔’자는 ‘붙잡다’로 쓰였다. ③의 亞는 ‘인명’이라는 의미로 쓰였고, ‘耳’는 ‘방국명’으로 쓰였다. ④의 ‘𠂤(師)般’에서 ‘𠂤(師)’는 ‘관직명’ 또는 ‘군사’라는 의미이고, ‘般’은 ‘인명’이다. ‘取’는 ‘취하다, 얻다’라는 의미로 쓰였고, ‘朿’자는 ‘무기의 한 종류’로 쓰였으며, ‘彭’은 ‘방국명 또는 지명’으로 쓰였다. 이러한 분석으로부터 ①부터 ④까지 문장은 ‘방국’의 ‘龍’을 공격하거나 ‘방국 또는 지역’의 ‘龍’에게서 무기의 한 종류인 ‘朿’를 취한다는 내용이라는 것을 살펴보았다. ‘龍’자는 전국시기 문헌인 『呂氏春秋』에서 ‘임금’이라는 의미로 쓰였다. 필자는 이러한 분석으로부터 위 ①부터 ④에 쓰인 ‘龍’자의 의미가 ‘우두머리, 군장’이라는 것을 검토하였다.
The character ‘lóng(龍)’ has the form of ․․․․ in the oracle bone script. This showed additional meanings of ‘lóng(龍)’ to those that have thus far been discovered. Those meanings are as follows. The following two passages using ‘lóng(龍)’ are found in oracle bone script: ① “貞 : 弗其羌龍.「合集6633」”, ② “貞 : 弔羌龍.「合集6635」”, ③ “甲子卜 : 亞耳龍, 母(毋)啟, 其啟, 弗每, 又雨.「合集28021」”, ④ “貞 : 勿令𠂤(師)般取朿于彭龍.「合集8283」” ①, ②, ③, and ④ are sentences in the oracle bone script that contain ‘lóng(龍)’. Among these sentences, ‘’ in ① and ② means ‘name’, ‘’ means ‘attack’, ‘annihilate, defeat’, and ‘diào(弔)’ means ‘hold’. ③’s ‘yà(亞)’ means ‘name’ and ‘ěr(耳)’ means ‘Fang states name’. ④’s ‘shībān[𠂤(師)般]’, ‘shī[𠂤(師)]’ means the ‘name of a government post’ or ‘military’ and ‘bān(般)’ means ‘name’. The character ‘qǔ(取)’ means ‘have, take’ and the letter ‘cì(朿)’ means ‘type of weapon’. ①-④ include attacking the ‘lóng(龍)’ of a Fang states or taking ‘cì(朿)’, a type of weapon, from the ‘lóng(龍)’ of the Fang states or region. Thus, the character ‘lóng(龍)’ also meant ‘king’ in 『lǚ shì chūn qiū(呂氏春秋)』 texts from the Warring States Period. Thus, this analysis showed that the character ‘lóng(龍)’ used in ①-④ meant ‘head, military commander’.
