2015 개정 국어과 교육과정에서 통합적 독서교육을 지원하기 위하여 ‘한 학기 한 권 읽기’를 교육 내용에 포함함에 따라, 교육부와 17개 시도교육청은 한 학기 한 권 읽기와 관련하여 초등학교 3~6학년 학생들과 교사의 독서교육을 지원하기 위한 웹서비스 개발 연구를 위탁하였다. 이 연구에서는 인공지능(AI)을 활용하여 초등학교 교사들이 한 학기 한 권 읽기에 활용 가능한 도서 목록 및 교수·학습 자료를 쉽게 검색·이용·공유할 수 있는 플랫폼을 개발하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한 학기 한 권 읽기 활동 지원 도서 검색 및 추천을 위해 기존 도서 및 신간 도서 정보로 구성된 메타데이터를 기반으로 사용자 검색 빈도, 선호도, 독서 후기, 도서 랭킹 등의 사용자 데이터를 분석하여 인공지능(AI)을 활용한 도서 추천 시스템을 설계·개발하였다. 더불어 교사가 책열매에서 제공하는 기본적인 아이디어를 바탕으로 수업을 설계하도록 도서 검색 후 책에 관한 교수·학습 정보를 한눈에 활용할 수 있는 내용과 형식으로 교수·학습 자료를 개발하고 공유할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 연구는 국어교육학계에서 최초로 시도하고자 하는 인공지능(AI) 활용 시스템 개발 및 그 성과를 공유하고 앞으로의 방향성을 제시하고자 한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
In order to support students’ integrated reading education (reading one book in a semester) in the 2015 revised Korean language curriculum, the Ministry of Education and 17 provincial offices of education entrusted a web service, “Book Fruit” (https://ireading.kr) with development of study to support reading education for elementary school students and teachers. The main goal was to develop a platform to aid elementary school teachers in searching for, using, and sharing books and instructional materials that can be used for a semester’s reading curriculum. To achieve this goal, AI based book recommendation system was designed and developed by analyzing user data such as user search frequency, preferences, reading reviews, and book rankings based on metadata comprising existing and new book information. Additionally, instructional materials for teachers and reward systems for students were provided. In conclusion, the significance and the future direction of this study are discussed.
