본 연구는 대중문화 콘텐츠가 담고 있는 감시와 통제의 내용을 통해서 과학기술문명이 발달한 미래사회의 모습과 그 사회 속 감시체계에서 발생가능한 문제점들을 알아보는 것을 목표로 한다. 본 연구의 분석 대상인 영화『마이너리티 리포트』는 사회 안전을 목적으로 만들어진 범죄 예방 시스템으로 인해 인간들이 감시받고 통제당하는 세상이 오게 될 것임을 독자와 관객에게 알려준다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫 번째로 『마이너리티 리포트』에 나타난 미래의 사회는 모듈, 코딩절차, 데이터베이스 등으로 통제받는 사회이다. 영화 속 사람들은 아이-덴티스캔이라는 홍채인식기로 모든 생활을 감시당하고 있다. 두 번째로 『마이너리티 리포트』속에 법률에 관한 사항은 나오지 않지만 주된 이야기는 범죄 예방이란 목적으로 범죄를 저지르지 않은 사람을 체포하는 것이어서 법집행에 관한 이야기라고 할 수 있다. 법과 문학은 모두 인간과 인간이 사는 사회를 바람직한 길로 가도록 돕는 공동의 목표를 갖는다. 따라서 『마이너리티 리포트』는 ‘법과 문학’ 분야의 분석 텍스트가 될 수 있다. 마지막으로 범죄를 예측하는 예지자가 가지고 있던 소수의 보고 비전을 통해서 범죄 예방 시스템의 문제가 바로 인간의 문제임을 알아낼 수 있었다. 인간 없는 기술은 없다. 따라서 기술로 인한 디스토피아는 인간이 만드는 새로운 미래일 수 있다. 『마이너리티 리포트』는 첨단 기술문명으로 인간의 미래를 예측할 수 있는 시대에 피해야만 할 디스토피아의 세계를 현재의 눈으로 깨닫게 한다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the future society in which scientific and technological civilization has developed and possible problems in the surveillance system in that society through the contents of surveillance and control contained in popular culture contents. The film, Minority Report, which is the subject of this study's analysis, informs readers and audiences that a world will come in which humans are monitored and controlled by precrime system created for social safety. The results of the study are as follows. First, the future society shown in Minority Report is a society controlled by modules, coding procedures, and databases. The people in the movie are being monitored in all their lives with an iris recognition device called eye-dentiscan. Second, although there are no legal matters in Minority Report, the main story is about law enforcement because it is about arresting people who have not committed crimes for the purpose of crime prevention. Both law and literature have a common goal of helping humans and the society in which they live on a desirable path. Therefore, Minority Report can be a text for the field of ‘Law and Literature’. Finally, through the visions of minority report which the pre-cog, who predicts crime, has have, it is possible to find out that the problems of precrime system are humans’. There is no technology without humans. Therefore, the dystopia caused by technology can be a new future created by humans. Minority Report makes us realize with the eyes of the present the world of dystopia that must be avoided in an era where the future of human beings can be predicted with cutting-edge technological civilization.
