이 연구는『무예도보통지』24기예 중 본국검법에서만 나오는 33가지 자세 중 조천세 원문의 의미와 좌쌍수 파지법, 환집 기법 및 범례의 분합사례를 종합적으로 고찰하여 재조명하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 본국검의 조천세를 중심으로 본국검보 한문본과 본국검총보, 한글로 된 언해본과 본국검총도의 그림을 비교하고 관련된 문헌을 비교 검토하였다. 주요 결론을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본국검보 원문의 그림은 좌측 손을 위로 한 좌쌍수 파지법이고, 본국검총도의 조천세 그림은 우측 손을 위로한 우쌍수 파지법으로 분리되어 표기하고 있다. 이러한 파지법이 나올 수 있는 근거는『무예도보통지』범례에 따라 보와 도를 조합한 조천세의 좌우 회전이 그림에 반영된 것이다. 둘째,『무예제보번역속집』왜검보 그림에 단병기의 좌쌍수 파지법과 우쌍수 파지법이 나타난 것은 동작을 진행하는 과정에서 손을 바꾸어 잡는 환집이 이루어진 다음의 모습을 보여준 것이다. 셋째, 좌쌍수 파지법의 이점으로 좌우 환집이 원활하면 단병기와 장병기를 쉽게 운용함으로써 공방의 효율성을 높일 수 있다. 그러므로『무예도보통지』범례에서 보와 도로 분합된 각 자세들의 기법을 연결하고 종합하여 해석해야함을 시사하였다.
This study was to re-examine and reproduce the meaning of original Jocheonse(朝天勢) and left double grip, hands changing method and separation and integrity cases of legend of 33 postures found only in Bongguggeombeob(本國劒法) of 24 martial arts of『Muyedobotongji(武藝圖譜通志)』synthetically. For this, the present study compared and examined pictures of Bonguggeombeob written in Chinese, Bonguggeomchongbo(本國劒總譜), Eonhaebon(諺解本) in Korean and Bongguggeomchongdo(本國劒總圖) and related literatures focused on Jocheonse of Bongguggeom. The main conclusions were suggested as follows. First, the pictures of the original Bonguggeombo(本國劒譜) showed left double grip with left hand directed upward and the pictures of Jocheonse of Bonguggeomchongdo indicated right double grip with right hand directed upward separately. These different grip methods were originated in the pictures of left and right rotation of Jocheonse combining Bo and Do according to the legend of Muyedobotongji. Second, left double grip and right double grip of short weapons displayed in the pictures of 『Muyejebobeunyeuksokjib(武藝諸譜飜譯續集)』Waegeombo(倭劒譜) showed the motion after changing hands in the process of doing motions. Third, left double grip has the advantage of enhancing the efficiency of attack and defense by operating short weapon and long weapon easily when left and right hand changing method is smooth. Therefore, this study suggests that the techniques of all postures combined into Bo(譜) and Do(圖) in the introductory remarks of 『Muyedobotongji(武藝圖譜通志)』should be connected, synthesized and interpreted.
