본고는 여성 관련 속담의 언어 이데올로기와 그 사회적 면모를 살펴보는 데 연구 목적을 두었다. 한국 속담에는 사회 속 여성의 역할과 모습을 잘 보여준다. 속담 속 여성들의 면모와 세계관이 형상화되어 있고, 이들이 처한 사회 문화적 특수성이 선명하게 드러나기 때문이다. 속담이라는 하나의 언어가 사회구조를 반영하기도 하지만 거꾸로 사회구조는 언어의 틀에 맞춰 만들어지기도 한다. 여기서 속담이라는 언어의 기본 기능을 살펴보면 사회적 맥락 속에서 이루어진 의사소통의 수단이라 할 수 있다. 하지만 어떠한 언어가 실현되려고 할 때, 이것은 특정한 상황에 놓인 사회관계를 통해 규정되며 생활과 이데올로기에서 추출된 의미와 내용을 포함한다. 따라서 속담이라는 언어의 역할은 집단 내의 개인적 자아가 사회를 통해 명료해지며 그것이 사회언어적 존재가치가 된다. 당시 사회가 언어 이데올로기에 큰 영향력을 미치고 엄청난 파급력과 지속력을 갖고 있었기 때문에 정당성을 부여 받으면서 여성들에 대한 언어적 비하 발언을 서슴없이 할 수 있었던 것이다. 특히 언어 이데올로기적 담화는 개인들이 자기실천으로서 현실개입하며 인간 주체 문제에 접근하는 틀을 제공한다. 그러기에 속담이라는 언어를 통해 특정한 사회집단의 이데올로기적 현상을 볼 수 있었던 것이다.
The purpose of this study is to examine the linguistic ideology of proverbs related to women and their social aspects. Korean proverbs show the role and appearance of women in society well. This is because the faces and worldviews of women in the proverb are embodied, and the socio-cultural specificity they face is clearly revealed. A single language of proverb is also a reflection of social structure, but conversely, social structure is also made to fit the framework of language. In other words, the aspect that life defines consciousness emerges from the way consciousness defines life. Here, looking at the basic function of a language called proverb, it can be said to be a means of communication made in a social context. However, when a language is about to be realized, it is defined through social relations in a specific situation and includes meaning and content extracted from life and ideology. Therefore, the role of language as a proverb is that the individual ego within the group becomes clear through society, and it becomes the value of language and social existence. At that time, society had a great influence on the language ideology and had a tremendous range of ripples and persistence, so it was possible to make verbal derogatory remarks against women without hesitation while receiving justification. In particular, linguistic ideological discourse provides a framework for individuals to approach the problem of human subjects related to reality intervention into self-practice. Therefore, through the language of proverb, we were able to see the ideological phenomenon of a specific social group.
