This study aims to identify the antecedents of resistance behavior that website users do not tend to change their password from the behavioral economics perspective. It emphasizes the irrational aspects of human beings by integrating dual process theory and status quo bias perspective discussed in behavioral economics. The results show Intuitive Process (System 1) and Analytical Process (System 2) work to form inertia, indicating attachment to the existing behavior pattern, and determines the behavioral response related to password change. In particular, the psychological factor of System 1 has a stronger effect on the inertia of the existing password. It shows a strong evidence that intuitive thinking along with analytical thinking plays an important role in human decision-making. In addition, the inertia plays a mediating role between the dual process factors and the resistance behavior to password change, so that the status quo bias for password change occurs. The findings of this study are expected to discuss the policy measure for password management of website users in detail.
