본 연구는 북한이탈주민 중 여성이 차지하는 비율이 월등히 높은 상황에서 북한이탈여성이 경험한 배우자의 의한 폭력 피해와 자살생각의 관계에서 우울의 매개효과를 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 배우자가 있는 북한이탈여성을 대상으로 수집된 자료를 활용하여 자살생각을 설명하기 위한 연구모형에 대한 경로분석을 실시하였으며, 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 배우자에 의한 폭력 피해와 우울은 북한이탈여성의 자살생각에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 배우자에 의한 폭력 피해와 자살생각의 관계에서 우울은 부분매개효과를 갖는 것으로 확인되었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 북한이탈여성이 경험하는 배우자에 의한 폭력 피해와 우울을 중심으로 자살생각을 감소시키기 위한 실천적･정책적 방안에 대한 논의가 이루어졌다.
It appears that the difficulties experienced by North Korean female defectors are very high in a situation where the proportion of women among North Korean defectors is significantly higher. The study aims to examine the mediation effect of depression on the relationship between spouse violence and suicidal ideation in North Korean female defectors. For this purpose, a path analysis was conducted on a research model to explain suicidal ideation using data collected from North Korean female defectors with spouses. The results are as follows. First, spouse violence and depression were found to have a direct impact on suicidal ideation. Second, depression had a partial mediation effect on the relationship between spouse violence and suicidal ideation. Based on the results, practical suggestions were to reduce suicidal ideation focusing on spouse violence and depression in the North Korean female defectors.
