This study examines the cultural characteristics of ‘monoawase’, which appears in classical Japanese literature, to be accepted in various fields of modern Japanese popular culture, through the unique method of ‘monoawase’. ‘Monoawase’ is a general term for a game with a competitive nature in which a group is divided into two teams and competes one󰠏on󰠏one on certain objects. And the orchestra performance after the game has the identity of a competitive culture unique to Japan, which creates a ‘place of harmony’ that can be interpreted as friendly and coexistence by the winner and the loser playing musical instruments together. This mono󰠏awase has expanded to various fields through modern transformation or cultural content development and production in Japanese popular culture and prefers a team game format in which the number of matches is repeated one󰠏on󰠏one. I found it in the Japanese spirit. Therefore, Japan's monoawase was considered as a cultural symbol system that expresses the emotions and ideas unique to the Japanese in terms of a culture of harmony and coexistence as a culture in which one's own abilities and skills compete with others to compete.
