창조세계를 돌보고 창조세계와 조화를 이루며 살아가는 것은 하나님을 창조주 하나님으로 모시는 모든 기독교인들의 당연하고도 엄중한 책임이다. 이런 점에서 협의회가 JPIC를 강조하면서 창조질서보전의 책임을 강조한 것은 시의적절하고 옳은 일이 아닐 수 없다. 협의회는 2천 년대 이후로 창조질서보전 문제에 더 적극적인 관심을 지녀오면서, 지구 생태계의 긴밀한 공동체성, 정의 평화 등의 사역과 긴밀히 연결된 창조질서보전 사역, 창조질서보전 사역을 이루어 가시는 성령, 선교의 한 목표로서의 창조질서보전 사역 등을 강조한다. 그러나 창조질서보전 사역이 아무리 중요하다고 해도 그것을 선교의 목표로 삼는 것은 여러 가지 부수적인 문제점을 야기할 수 있다. 예를 들면 선교를 세상의 의제 정도로 축소할 가능성, 교회의 역량을 지나치게 넘어서는 과제 설정의 가능성, 그리고 만유구원과 다원주의 등으로 흐를 수 있는 잠재적 위험성 등이 있으며, 이것은 결코 쉽게 간과할 수 있는 문제가 아닌 것이다. 이런 이유에서 본 연구는 창조질서보전의 문제를 선교 목표로 잡는 것의 문제점들을 분석하는 것을 주된 목적으로 삼는다. 이러한 연구는 창조질서보전 사역을 교회가 어떤 관점으로 보면서 접근해야 할지에 대한 눈을 열어주는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
Taking care of creation and living in harmony with creation is a natural and serious responsibility of all Christians who have God as their Creator God. In this regard, it is timely and right for WCC to emphasize the responsibility of preserving the creative order while emphasizing JPIC. Since the 2000s, the council has been more actively interested in the issue of preserving the creation order, emphasizing close communal nature of the earth’s ecosystem, justice and peace ministry related to the work of preserving the creation, and the work of the Holy Spirit who is carrying out the ministry of creation order. It considers the work of preserving the creation order as one goal of mission. However, no matter how important the work of preserving the creation order is, making it the goal of mission can involve a number of incidental problems. For example, there are the possibility of reducing mission to the world’s agenda, the probability of setting tasks that go beyond the church’s capacity, and the potential dangers of universal salvation and pluralism are detected, and this is a problem that cannot be easily overlooked. For this reason, the main purpose of this study is to analyze the problems of setting the issue of creation order preservation as the mission goal.
