목적 본 연구는 문화센터의 발레 작품반 수업을 통해 콩쿠르에 참여한 유아 및 아동의 사례를 선정하여, 취미로 발레를 배우면서콩쿠르까지 참여하게 된 과정의 경험과 의미에 대해 학부모의 인식을 이해하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 방법 서울소재 H백화점 문화센터 작품반에 참여하는 유아 및 아동의 학부모 5명을 대상으로 단체면담 및 개별심층면담을 통한 질석사례연구방법을 적용하였으며, 사례 별 분석과 사례 간 분석을 통해 의미를 해석하였다. 결과 문화센터의 발레 수업 참여 배경으로는 취미로 발레를 배우기에 충분한 교육기관, 학부모의 시간을 활용하기에 적절한 공간, 신체활동의 일환으로 선택한 발레, 예쁜 몸⋅바른 자세 다지기의 결과를 확인하였다. 작품반 활동을 통한 콩쿠르 참여 경험의 의미는부모 주도 선택에서 자녀 주도적 활동으로의 이행, ‘보여지는 나’를 위한 자녀의 즐거운 노력, 선생님 덕분에 찾아온 기회, 품 안의자식, 무대 위 우뚝 선 모습을 바라봄, 우물 안 개구리라도 괜찮아 결과가 도출되었다. 자녀의 발레 콩쿠르를 지원하는 학부모의 인식은 유아동기 교과목으로써 충분한 가치가 있는 발레, 콩쿠르 참여로 인한 자녀의 성과 : 도전정신과 자신감, 취미 또는 전공의 결정요인 : 자녀의 재능과 의지⋅타고난 몸⋅엄마의 지원 여건의 결과가 나타났다. 학부모에게 있어서 자녀의 발레를 지원하는 것의 의미는 자녀를 위한 시간적 투자 및 활용적 특면, 예체능 교육 지원 및 대리만족, 자녀의 또 다른 모습을 발견하고 이해하는 기회 결과를확인하였다. 결론 첫째, 현재 공교육 기관에서 시행되는 특별활동이 학부모들의 요구에 부합할 수 있도록 방안을 마련할 필요가 있으며, 문화센터와 같은 기관에서는 양질의 교육서비스를 제공할 수 있도록 지속적인 노력을 기울여야 한다. 둘째, 유아 및 아동에게 예체능 교육을 지도함에 있어, 교육 내용 뿐 아니라 참여자의 동기를 부여하고 새롭게 도전할 수 있는 기회를 제공하는 장을 마련해야 한다. 셋째, 학생들에게 있어서 입시에 필요한 교과목 뿐 아니라 예체능 및 취미 활동까지 포함한 여가활동을 즐길 수 있도록 사회 전반의 인식이개선되어야 하며 이를 위한 제도적 지원이 필요하다. 넷째, 학부모에게 있어 자녀의 발레를 지원하는 것은 자녀의 어린 시절을 좋은경험으로 채워주고 싶은 부모의 마음이자 적극적인 소통의 양육과정이라 할 수 있으며, 이를 통해 자녀를 보다 잘 이해할 수 있게된 의미가 있다.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to select cases of children who participated in the competition through the ballet art class at the Cultural Center, and to understand the perception of parents about the experience and meaning of the process of learning ballet as a hobby and their participating in the competition. Methods This study applied a qualitative case method to understand the perceptions and meanings of parents who support their children's ballet competitions. For this, this study analyzed the cases of five parents of children who participated in the work class at the a private Cutural Center in Seoul. Results Cultural center's background for participation in ballet classes is as follows: An educational institution sufficient to learn ballet as a hobby, An appropriate space to use the parents' time, A ballet selected as part of physical activity, A beautiful body and good fit, and the results of tightening posture. As for the meaning of the experience of participating in the contest through work class activities: The transition from parent-led selection to child-led activities, Children's joyful efforts for ‘the visible myself’, Opportunities that came thanks to teachers, Looking out to be pround of the children on the stage, It was okay to have ‘a frog in the well’. Parents' perceptions of supporting their children's ballet competitions: Ballet that has sufficient value as an early childhood curriculum, Children's achievements from participation in the competition: challenge spirit and confidence, Hhobbies or major determinants: child's talent and the will, the innate body, and support of the mother. And the results were drawn as follows: For parents, the meaning of supporting the child's ballet:It is an investment in a time dimension and it is also useful, Support for arts and sports education and vicarious satisfaction, An opportunity to discover and understand another aspect of the child. Conclusions First, it is necessary to prepare a plan so that the special activities currently implemented in public education institutions can meet the needs of parents, and institutions such as cultural centers must make continuous efforts to provide quality educational services. Second, in instructing arts and sports education to infants and children, it is necessary to provide not only educational content but also a place to motivate participants and provide opportunities for new challenges. Third, the overall perception of society should be improved so that students can enjoy leisure activities including not only subjects required for entrance exams, but also arts and sports and hobbies, and institutional support is needed for this. Fourth, for parents, supporting their children's ballet can be said to be a parent's desire to fulfill their children's childhood with good experiences and a nurturing process of active communication, and through this, it is meaningful that they can better understand their children.
