The locality of Kimyoungcheoljeon owned by Jo Won–gyeong : Compared to Kimyoungcheoljeon owned by Park Jae-yeon

조원경본은 1762년 무렵에 필사된 「김영철전(金英哲傳)」의 한문본 이본이다. 조원경본은 긴 편폭의 연의소설 계열 현전 이본 중 ‘김영철 서사’의 효시인 김응원(金應元)의 「김영철유사(金英哲遺事)」에 시간적으로 가장 가깝다. 본고에서는 이처럼선본(先本)에 해당되는 조원경본의 로컬리티를 후대의 다른 한문본 이본인 박재연본과의 비교를 통해 고찰했다. 조원경본과 박재연본은 모두 연의소설 계열의 이본으로서서사의 경개가 대체로 유사하다. 이에 평안도 지역의 특수성과 그 하위주체의 비판적문제제기가 공통적으로 보인다. 그렇기는 하지만 조원경본의 로컬리티가 박재연본보다한층 더 뚜렷하고 예리하다. 첫째, 조원경본은 17세기 평안도 하층민 김영철이 겪은고통이 국가의 공적 체제에서 기인하는 것임을 일관되게 비판적으로 말하고 있다. 이와달리 후대의 박재연본은 김영철이 겪은 고통이 유림이라는 한 위정자의 사적 원한에서기인하는 것으로 일부분을 개작해 놓았다. 둘째, 조원경본의 끝부분에는 하위주체로서각성한 김영철 자신이 한양의 조정을 향해 스스로 목소리를 내어 자신의 고통을 말하고, 공적을 인정받게 해달라고 호소한 사건이 명확히 서술되어 있다. 이와 달리 박재연본은 이 부분이 다소 모호하게 서술되어 있다. 이처럼 박재연본에 비해 조원경본에 로컬리티가 현저하게 보이는 것은, 「김영철유사」에 담긴 로컬리티와 관련된 문제의식이 크게퇴색되지 않은 채 조원경본으로 전승된 결과로 추정된다.

Jowongyeongbon(Kimyoungcheoljeon owned by Jo Won–gyeong) is the text of the classical Chinese version of Kimyoungcheoljeon, which was copied around 1762. A relatively long version of the scripts that exist today, Jowongyeongbon is the closest in time to Kimyoungcheolyusa, the origin of Kim Young-cheol’s narrative. In this paper, the locality of Jowongyeong bon, which was written in this early period, was examined by comparing it with the other later classical Chinese version of Parkjaeyeonbon (Kimyoungcheoljeon owned by Park Jae-yeon). Both Jowongyeongbon and Parkjaeyeonbon are scripts of the Yeon-eui(演義) novel series, and the narratives in these two works are generally similar. The local specificity of Pyeongando and the critical problem raised by its subaltern have much in common. However, the locality of Jowongyeongbon is more distinct and sharper than that of Parkjaeyeonbon. The reason behind this difference is that Jowongyeongbon was passed without much fading of the awareness of the locality contained in Kim Eung-won’s Kimyoungcheolyusa.
