『조선표류일기』는 1819년 7월 3일 충청도 비인현 마량진에 표착한 사쓰마번의 사무라이 야스다 요시카타가 남긴 기록이다. 이 책에는 많은 회화자료가 실려 있는데, 전체 분량의 약 15%에 달한다. 그림의 내용은 조선인의 모습과 풍속, 조선의 다양한 기물, 포구와 항로, 조선의 자연 등이다. 이들 그림은 대부분 아주 세밀하며, 조선의 지형을 조감도처럼 그린 것도 있다. 이 논문에서는 이들 회화자료를 통하여, 군뢰 등 하급 관인이 쓰는 모자의 특징, 구멍이 뚫린 신발코, 바지 위로 신은 버선 등 우리가 미처 알지 못했던 조선의 면모를 확인하는 한편, 조선표류일기의 중심 인물이라고 할 수 있는 비인현감 윤영규의 신원을 파악하고자 하였다. 비인현감의 복장에서 주목해야 할 부분은 그의 관자, 관영, 조대를 비롯하여 그가 평소에 타고다니던 교자이다. 윤영규가 사용한 옥관자, 패영, 홍조대는 모두 정3품 당상관이 사용할 수 있는 복식이자 신분을 나타내는 표지이기도 하다. 그가 탄 교자 역시 현감이 탈 수 있는 것이 아니다. 비인현감이라는 관직의 본래 관위는 종6품이므로, 윤영규의 관품이 종6품이라면 관자 등은 모두 법률을 위반한 것이므로 장 100과 삭탈관직의 처벌을 받게 된다. 또한 탈 수 없는 교자를 타면 남기율을 위반한 죄목으로 유배 3천리에 처해지게 된다. 그러나 그와 빈번하게 접촉한 지방관인을 비롯하여 문정관으로 중앙에서 파견된 역관 조명오 역시 윤영규의 복식을 문제삼지 않았다. 따라서 비인현감 윤영규는 원래 당상관으로 보아야 한다. 이에 승정원일기에서 1803년부터 오위장 등으로 확인되는 윤영규와 1819년에 비인현감으로 부임한 윤영규를 동일인물이라고 판단하였다.
The "Joseon Drift Diary" is a record left by Yasuda Yoshikata, a samurai of Satsuma-han, who landed in Maryang naval base of Biin county in Chungcheong province on July 3, 1819. This book contains a lot of picture materials, which account for about 15% of the total. The contents of the painting include the appearance and customs of the Joseon people, various objects of Joseon, ports and sea routes, and the nature of Joseon. Most of these paintings are very detailed, and some of the topography of Joseon is painted like a bird's eye view. In this paper, I tried to identify the characteristics of hats worn by low-ranking local officials, such as military laborer, perforated shoes, and socks worn over pants, as well as the identity of Yoon Yeong-gyu, a county magistrate who is the central figure of the drift diary. The main points of Yoon's attire are his round ring for headband, coronet string, thread belt and sedan chair, which he usually used. Jade ring of headband, coronet string made in agate and sea tortoise shell and red thread belt used by Yoon Young-gyu were all attires and signs that can be used by the third grade parliamentary officer(堂上官). The sedan chair he rode on is also not something that can be used for county magistrate. Since the original office grade of the magistrate is the 6th grade, if Yoon had violated the law concerned, he would have been punished by the 100 times flogging and deprivation the government post. Also, if he had ridden a sedan chair that he can't ride, he would have been sentenced to three thousand li exile for violating the law of improper riding. However, not only local officials who had frequent contact with him, but also the interpreting officer Cho Myoung-oh, who was dispatched from the Court as information officer, did not take issue with Yoon attires. Therefore, Yoon should be regarded as parliamentary officer. Accordingly, Yoon Yeong-gyu, who was recorded as General of the Five Central Units from 1803, and Yoon Yeong-gyu, who was appointed as the magistrate of Biin county in 1819, were considered to be the same person.
