The Relationship between Body Image and Successful Aging of the Elderly: The Dual Mediating Effects of Growth Mindset and Grit

이 연구는 노인의 신체상과 성공적 노화의 관계에서 성장 마인드셋과 그릿의 이중 매개효과를 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위한 연구 문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 신체상, 성장 마인드셋, 그릿 및 성공적 노화 간의 상관관계는 어떠한가? 둘째, 성장 마인드셋과 그릿은 신체상과 성공적 노화의 관계에서 이중 매개효과가 있는가? 분석을 위해 SPSS window version 25.0과 PROCESS macro 3.5.3을 활용하였고, 빈도분석, 신뢰도분석, 상관분석 및 이중 매개효과 분석을 하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째 신체상, 성장 마인드셋, 그릿 및 성공적 노화 간에는 유의미한 정적 상관이 있었다. 특히 성장 마인드셋과 그릿 간에는 가장 높은 상관관계가 있었다. 둘째, 신체상은 성장 마인드셋에 유의미한 정적 영향을 미쳤고, 성장 마인드셋은 희망에 정적으로 유의미한 영향을 주었으며, 희망은 성공적 노화에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 주었다. 신체상이 성장 마인드셋과 그릿을 경유하여 성공적 노화에 이르는 경로의 간접효과도 유의미하였다. 즉, 성장 마인드셋과 그릿은 노인의 신체상과 성공적 노화 관계에서 이중 매개효과가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 노인의 신체상과 심리적 변인을 활용한 성공적 노화를 위한 새로운 실천 모델로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study aimed to verify the dual mediating effect of growth mindset and grit in the association between body image and successful aging in the elderly. The research questions to achieve the purpose of the study are as follows. First, what is the correlation between body image, growth mindset, grit, and successful aging? Second, do growth mindset and grit have a double mediating effect in the relationship between body image and successful aging? For the analysis, SPSS WIn.25.0 and PROCESS macro 3.5.3, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and dual mediation effect analysis were performed. As a result of the study, first, there were significant positive correlations between body image, growth mindset, grit, and successful aging. Among them, there was the highest correlation between growth mindset and grit. Second, the body image had a significant and positive effect on growth mindset, growth mindset had a positive and positive effect on hope, and hope had a positive effect on successful aging. The indirect effect of the path from body image to successful aging through growth mindset and grit was also significant. That is, the growth mindset and grit had a double mediating effect in the relationship between body image and successful aging of the elderly. These results are intended to be used as a new practical model for successful aging using the elderly's body image and psychological variables.
