본고는 잡지 『문예』에 게재된 문예평론의 특징이 무엇인지와 평론들이 지니는 의미를 논하는 것이 목적이다. 그 방법으로 『문예』에 발표된 문예평론의 텍스트를 실증적인 방식으로 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 잡지 『문예』는 이데올로기 담론을 제외한 문학적 순수성을 내포하고 있다는 점과 해외 문학의 소개를 통해 문학의 시대적 흐름을 국내에 전달하는 역할을 하고 있다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 사회적으로 정치와 밀접한 관계를 맺을 수 밖에 없는 해방기지만 『문예』는 불확실한 공간을 타파하고 순수문학을 이끌어가기 위해 잡지 매체를 전략적으로 활용하고 있고 그러한 평론들이 대게 게재되어 있다. 순수문학을 기반으로 하여 전통문예지의 위상을 보여주고 세계문학의 소개를 통해 문학적 특징과 사상들을 대중에게 전달하는 역할을 하였다는 것을 파악하였다. 잡지 『문예』의 연구를 통해 현재 한국 문단의 ‘순수문학’의 기반을 인지하는 학문적인 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the characteristics of literary criticism published in the magazine Literature and the meaning of the critics. In this way, the text of literary criticism published in Literature was analyzed in an empirical way. Through this study, it was found that the magazine Literature has literary purity excluding ideological discourse, and that it plays a role in conveying the flow of literature to Korea through the introduction of foreign literature. Although it is a liberation period that has no choice but to form a close relationship with politics, Literature uses magazine media strategically to break through the uncertain space and lead pure literature, and such criticisms are usually published. Based on pure literature, it showed the status of traditional literary journals, and it was understood that it played a role in conveying literary characteristics and ideas to the public through the introduction of world literature. Through the study of the magazine Literature, it is expected that it will make an academic contribution to recognizing the foundation of ‘pure literature’ of current Korean literature.
