본 연구의 목적은 일반긴장이론에서 주장하는 조절효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 355명의 청소년에 대한 자료를 활용하여 다양한 조절변인(문제해결 능력, 도덕적 신념, 취미생활여부, 사회적지지, 비행친구관계)이 긴장, 부적 정서, 비행의 관계에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 긴장으로는 가정, 친구관계, 외모 및 경제적 긴장을 측정하였고, 부적 정서로는 분노와 우울감을 포함하였으며, 대면비행과 비대면비행 간에 차이가 있는지 검증하기 위해 폭력비행과 사이버비행을 종속변수로 사용하였다. 회귀분석 결과에 의하면 폭력비행의 경우 가정에서의 긴장, 분노, 우울감, 문제해결능력, 도덕적 신념, 비행친구관계가 유의미한 영향을 미친 반면, 사이버비행의 경우 가정에서의 긴장, 도덕적 신념, 비행친구관계만이 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 조절효과와 관련하여 폭력비행의 경우 문제해결능력은 경제적 긴장과 폭력비행의 관계를, 취미생활여부는 외모로 인한 긴장과 폭력비행의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타난 반면, 사이버비행의 경우 도덕적 신념은 외모로 인한 긴장과 사이버비행의 관계를, 취미생활여부는 친구로 인한 긴장과 사이버비행의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 일반긴장이론의 주장이 비행의 종류에 따라 영향을 받을 수 있음을 의미하며, 일반긴장이론의 조절효과 또한 조절변인에 따라 달라질 수 있음을 시사한다.
The purpose of the current study is to examine the effects of conditioning factors on the relationships among strains, negative emotions, and delinquency. Using data of 355 juveniles on probation, the current study examined the effects of different types of conditioning factors, such as social skills, moral beliefs, hobby as legal coping strategy, social support, and deviant peer association on the associations among strains, negative emotions, and delinquency. Strains from parents, peer, appearance, and financial issues were measured, anger and depression were included as negative emotions. and violent delinquency and cyber delinquency were used as dependent variables. According to the results of the regression analyses, family related strain, anger, depression, social skills, moral beliefs, and deviant peer association had significant influence on violent delinquency, while family related strain, moral beliefs, and deviant peer association had significant effects on cyber delinquency. Regarding the conditioning effects, social skills moderated the relationship between financial strain and violent delinquency, and having a hobby moderated the relationship between appearance related strain and violent delinquency. However, moral beliefs moderated the relationship between appearance related strain and cyber delinquency, and having a hobby moderated the relationship between peer related strain and cyber delinquency. The findings suggest that the arguments of general strain theory might be contingent on types of delinquency, and that conditioning effects differ across types of conditioning factors.
